Chapter 134

I glared at him as I wiped blood from my split lip. “I’ll let Alina know,” I replied dryly.

Truthfully, it was good to know that I needed improving. I may have picked up a lot of new skills lately, but when it came to fighting a male by myself, I had a lot more to learn. If only Andrei weren’t in such a sour mood today.

As I turned to leave, his hand caught my arm. “Not so fast.”

I looked down at his fingers wrapped around my bicep, then up at his face. “What now?”

“I have a new stipulation for our alliance,” he said, releasing me and glancing between me and Damon. “Training sessions. You and me. Twice a week.”

Damon stared at him. “You want to train Natalia personally?”

“She needs it,” he said bluntly. “Alina’s good, but she’s going easy on her. She’ll never get better that way.”

“And you won’t go easy on me?” I asked, tilting my head.

Something flickered in his eyes then. I thought it might be a shadow of the look he’d given me during the full moon, a rise to my egging–on, but instead, I was met with that look of cold fury again.

“No,” he said calmly. “I won’t.”

The look on Andrei’s face sent a chill scuttling up my spine.

Where was his humor? Even during the darkest moments between us, he always had some kind of smirk or jab to make. Now, he was just looking at me like I was his enemy.

Damon frowned, but I cut in before he could speak. “It’s not a bad idea, I guess. I do need more training.”

What I didn’t say was that it might also give me a chance to gauge Andrei’s character. To see if he could be trusted with the truth about the twins.

Andrei turned to Damon. “Well, Alpha? Do you give your Luna permission to train?”

Damon and Andrei locked eyes, engaging in one of those silent male dominance contests that always made me want to roll my eyes. Finally, Damon nodded.

“Fine. Twice a week. But I want to be there.”

Andrei smirked. “Afraid I’ll steal your wife back, brother?”

“We could all use the training, I think. Consider it a… team–building exercise.”

To my surprise, Andrei nodded. “Very well. We’ll start tomorrow. Eight AM sharp.”

With that, he turned and stalked away.

“Are you sure about this?” Damon asked as we headed back to the house.

I nodded, strangely intrigued by the entire situation. If this could be my chance to get closer to Andrei, to learn more about him and gauge whether it would be safe to reveal the twins…

“Are you sure this is going to work?” I asked, turning the small bottle over in my hand. The pills inside rattled against the plastic.

The doctor nodded firmly. “Absolutely,” she said. “This medication is the best on the market. But you must take it exactly as prescribed–one pill every morning with food. No skipping doses.”

I nodded and slipped the bottle into my pocket. “And when can I have my first treatment?”

“Two weeks,” she replied.

“And the success rate?”
