“Yep! Pleeease can we go get pancakes? The really good ones with the blueberries?”

Jane beamed. “We haven’t gone to the diner in so long! I want to draw on the placemat.”

I laughed. “Let me talk to Grace first and make sure you’re actually better. Then…” I hesitated, glancing over my shoulder at Andrei, who was currently pulling his shirt over his head in the background.

Max seemed to read my mind. “Daddy should come, too,” he said, and there was no mistaking the way Andrei’s eyes lit up slightly at the mention of going out in public together.,

“Let’s visit Grace first before we make any decisions,” I chided gently, cheeks flushing as I grabbed the twins by their hands and pulled them away.
