Chapter 264
Natalia
Andrei didn’t look up as I approached, but I could see the hard set of his jaw from my angle.
“Are you going to let me explain myself now?” I asked, folding my arms when I came to stand in front of him.” Or are you going to nim away again?”
Andrei glanced up, something dark and angry flickering in his eyes before he seemed to control himself.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have stormed off. It was… childish of me.” He drew in a deep breath. “But Natalia, why did you kiss another man?”
The raw pain in his voice made my chest ache. I took a seat beside him and hesitated for a moment, wondering how best to tell him. Finally, I decided to just tell him everything.

Andrei had spent five years thinking I was dead. To not tell him about an incident that almost took my life… It was like a slap in the face to him. Like telling him that his fears might be justified and that I wasn’t taking them seriously.
“Karl came to my rescue just before my attacker stabbed me,” I went on, wanting to explain everything first.” He was the one who killed my attacker. But the aphrodisiac was making me hallucinate. I thought it was you. And I kissed him, still thinking that you were the one who had saved me.”
A muscle feathered in Andrei’s jaw. For a moment, there was silence between us.
Finally, he said, “Thank you for telling me. But you should have told me sooner.”
“But the kiss-”
“I really don’t care about the kiss anymore. I believe you when you say it was a hallucination.” Andrei turned to
