Reclaimed By My Alpha (Natalia and Andrei) novel Chapter 298

Andrei’s POV

I was still wiping rogue blood off of my dustanddirtcovered leathers when Mila found me at the western border post. The skirmish that morning had been brief but brutalfive rogues had tried to breach the new wall construction site overnight.

We had managed to kill three and captured two for questioning, but not before one of them had managed to wound two of my warriors with blades sharper than any they should have had. None of them were encrusted with rubies like the blade that once belonged to Lilith’s beloved, but they had the same sharpnesslikely honed by the same blacksmiths, on the same stones.

Alpha,Mila said, slightly out of breath from running, a messenger arrived from Bloodmoon. He says it’s urgent.

With my heart in my throat, I quickly dropped everything I was doing and followed her back to the main building at the outpost. Anything else I had to do could wait. If there was urgent news from Bloodmoon, then I feared the

worst.

The messenger was waiting in my makeshift office in the compound, holding a sealed letter. He handed it to me without a word, then stepped back, averting his gaze.

Jaw clenched, I broke the seal and unfolded the paper, my eyes scanning the words quickly at first. Then slower. Then I had to read it again because I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing.

I’m pregnant.

My hand tightened around the paper. Natalia was pregnant. We were having another baby.

I read the rest of the letter twice more, taking in every word. She was scared. She missed me. She wanted me there with her. And she was happy about the baby, which meant she wanted to keep it.

Which meant that I was going to be a father again.

I couldn’t help but smile. We were having a baby. It was another chance to be there from the beginning this time. Another little person with Natalia’s kindness or my stubbornness or some combination of both.

I looked up at the messenger. When did she send this?

Two days ago, Alpha. I came as fast as I could.

Nodding, I looked back down at the letter and read it again. Natalia said she missed me and she wanted me there, and to me, it didn’t feel right to simply send a letter back congratulating her on the news.

I should go to her,I said, turning to Mila and handing her the note. She took it and read it, her eyes widening as the news hit her. But then her face fell.

Alpha, this is wonderful news, butYou can’t leave right now. Moonshadow needs you.

My jaw clenched of its own accord. Mila was right, of course; with last night’s attack and everything else going on, I couldn’t just up and leave at the drop of a hat. It would take days, if not weeks, of preparation to ensure the pack was safe before I could go.

I considered telling the messenger to tell Natalia to prepare to come here instead, but I couldn’t do that, either.

It was still safer in Bloodmoon than anywhere else, and besidesher letter said nothing about Max’s condition, whether she was comfortable traveling or not, or anything of the sort.

No, I’d have to go to her. But I’d have to wrap things up here first, so although it broke my heart to do so, I

decided to write a letter.

While the messenger waited patiently, I frantically penned a letter with shaking hands. I congratulated Natalia, congratulated us, told her that I wanted the baby just as much as she did and that I would be there soon so we could figure out our next steps.

I then updated her on the current situation in Moonshadow, told her that I would come as soon as I knew the pack was safe enough to run without me there, and even told her that I had a surprise for her.

The ring. It was almost ready at the jeweler’sperfect timing. Once I saw her in person again, I would propose and slip that ring onto her finger with glee.

But that would definitely have to wait until I could see her in person. I wasn’t about to send a ring in the fucking mail.

Once I was finished, I sealed the letter and handed it back to the messenger. He took it and left right away, promising to get the message back to Natalia as quickly as possible.

As soon as the messenger and Mila had both left me, I finally let my face split into the grin that had been tugging at my cheeks the entire time. Without thinking, I jumped up from my desk and pumped my fist in the air, quite literally leaping with joy.

The sudden motion made me spill my coffee all over my desk, of course, staining the papers I had there along with Natalia’s letter. I cursed, immediately sobered, and began cleaning up the mess.

But it didn’t matter. Natalia and I were having a baby.

Our family wasn’t just whole againit was growing.

And all I had to do was finish up what I was doing here so we could all be together.

The next day started early with another patrol along the northern border. Thankfully, there were no attacks this time, but we found fresh tracks indicating that rogues were scouting the area. They were likely planning something.

By midday, I was exhausted and aching from patrolling and organizing the wallbuilding all day. I had just returned home, looking forward to a hot lunch and five minutes to rest my feet, when one of my scouts came running with a wild look in his eyes.

Alpha,he said, gasping for breath, we found something. Or rather, someone.
