Reclaimed By My Alpha (Natalia and Andrei) novel Chapter 356

Helena has many rubies like this,Andrei read out loud from David’s letter. We haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary about the necklaces and rings she wears, but then again, I haven’t thought to look until just now. These belong to Celeste; she willingly gave them for you to test. Let me know if the rubles react to your hypothesis. If they do, then I’d hazard a guess that Helena’s jewels are the same.

Andrei glanced up at me as he finished reading the letter, dark brows raised. I’d been pacing the room, one hand resting protectively on the ever so slight swell of my belly, the other pressed to my lips. My poor nail beds were torn to shreds from all the biting I had been doing lately.

So Helena might have access to an entire small arsenal of rubies,Andrei muttered, setting aside the letter. He rubbed both hands over his face. That’s even worse than I thought.

Worse than a horde of rogues having weapons made with them?I scoffed.

Well, yes.Andrei leaned back in his chair and gave me a firm look. Mindless hordes of rogues are one thing Helena is a tactical mastermind. For all we know, she could have all of Bloodmoon pack under her thrall with the twist of a little ring on her pinky finger.

I gulped more loudly than I would have liked at that. The thought of that woman having any kind of access to such weapons was terrifying, to say the least.

Indeed, seeing as how these rubies might have abilities that we didn’t even understand yet, the idea was daunting. At least with a knife, it could really only do one thing: cut.

But a pair of earrings, or a necklace, or a ring? Certainly the possibilities were endless.

We should get started testing these, then,I said. I grabbed the ruby earrings off of the table and held them up to the light. To any untrained eye, they were just pretty little earrings; I’d seen Celeste wear them many times before.

For all we knew, they could have the ability to burn down entire buildings.

Andrei nodded and stood, crossing the room to meet me. Well, you’re the ruby expert, here. Do you want to bond them?

I shot him a withering look, but knew he was right. I was no expert by any means, but the knife had responded well to my bonding, and I was the only one here with pierced ears. Unless Andrei felt like piercing his ears on a whim, I doubted these earrings would be very functional. It seemed that, whatever the rubies were set into, the item likely had to be used at least partially as intended. Therefore, holding the earrings in the palm of one’s hand probably wouldn’t produce very authentic results.

Without hesitating, I grabbed the letter opener that was sitting on the conference table and pricked my finger, wincing from the brief sting of pain.

A bead of blood formed a moment later with a little pressure, and I carefully dropped it onto one earring, then

another.

Andrei and I stared at the earrings, which were now wet and sticky with blood. Nothing happened.

Andrei quirked a brow at me. Are they supposed to do something special, or?

I thought for a moment, recalling what had happened with the knife when I initially bonded to it, but it hadn’t shown any indication at the time. With a shrug, I wiped the blood off, then slipped the hooks through my piercings.

If you were a pair of magical earrings,I said, turning to Andrei, what would your purpose be?

Andrei hesitated, then replied, UmI don’t know. Make my wearer look extra beautiful?
