Andrei’s POV

That morning started like any other. I woke before dawn, slipped out of bed without waking Natalia, and headed to the barracks to review the day’s training schedule with my Beta. We had new recruits from Bloodmoon who needed assessment, and the veteran warriors needed to keep their skills sharpened even though the war was over.

The barracks were blissfully quiet at that hour. The only people who were there were me and a few early risers preparing for the day, sharpening daggers and swords on the whetstone and cleaning their leathers.

I took my spot at the desk in the corner office and pulled out the roster, scanning through the names and

notes.

I hadn’t been working for long when it happened. Like fucking clockwork, the roster blurred. The words on the page twisted and ran together like ink in water. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, but it didn’t stop.

No. Not again. Couldn’t I have a break from this?

I stood so abruptly that I knocked my chair over. My Beta looked up from across the room, but I waved him off and headed for the door. I just needed air. That was all. Fresh air and the visions would stop.

But they didn’t stop.

The moment I stepped outside, the world tilted. The barracks disappeared. The morning sun vanished. I was standing in the Bloodmoon compound again, in the hallway outside the twinsbedroom.

The door was open. I could see inside.

Jane was on the floor. Blood pooled beneath her head. Her eyes were open but empty. Staring at nothing.

Max was across the room. He had tried to fight back, but he hadn’t been strong enough. His shirt was soaked through with red.

And then there was Natalia.

She was in the doorway, blocking my path. Or she had been, once, but now she was on the ground with one hand pressed to her throat where the blood was pouring out from between her fingers. She was trying to speak, trying to say something, but only gurgles came out. Her eyes were filled with betrayal. Confusion. Hatred.

I looked down at my hands. They were covered in blood. My blood, their blood, I couldn’t tell anymore, but

it didn’t matter.

No,I whispered. No, I didn’tI wouldn’t-

But the evidence was right there. My family. Dead. Killed by my own hands.

You see it too, don’t you?

The voice came from everywhere and nowhere. Deep and layered, like multiple voices speaking in unison. It reverberated in my skull like my wolf’s voice, but it wasn’t him. It was someone else. Someone new.

You see the future. The voice sounded pleased. Almost gleeful. Our future.

This isn’t real,I said. My voice was shaking. This isn’t happening.

Not yet.

The hallway stretched impossibly long in front of me. The walls were breathing, pulsing, wavering on either side. And that voice kept speaking, kept layering over itself until I couldn’t tell if it was one voice or a hundred.

You know what you are, Andrei. What you’ve always been.

Shut up.

A killer. A monster. You’ve killed so many already. What’s a few more?

Shut up!

They’d be better off without you. You know that. Deep down, you know-

I slammed my fist into the wall. Pain exploded through my knuckles, and the vision flickered. For just a second, I could see the barracks again. The morning light. Reality.

Then it snapped back. The hallway. The bodies. The blood.

Natalia’s hand had fallen away from her throat now. Her eyes were still open, still staring at me with that terrible betrayal. Still asking why.

Stop,I choked out. Please stop.

The voice laughed. It sounded like scraping metal. Like nails on a chalkboard. Like bones being ground into dust. This is your destiny, Andrei. This is what you were always meant to do. You can’t escape it. You can’t

I slammed my fist into the wall again. The vision cracked. I hit it again and again, feeling bones shift and skin split, but I didn’t care. I just needed it to stop. Needed the voice to stop. Needed to get out of this nightmare.

Finally, mercifully, the vision shattered completely.

I was on my knees outside the barracks. My Beta was beside me, saying something I couldn’t hear over the ringing in my ears. My hands were pressed flat against the dirt, and I was gasping like I’d been underwater.

Alpha? Alpha, are you—

I’m fine.I pushed myself to my feet. I’m fine. JustGive me a minute.

You don’t look fine. Should I get-

I said I’m fine! The words came out harsh and sharp. My Beta stepped back with his hands raised in

surrender.

I couldn’t stay there. I turned and walked toward the training arena. My hands were still shaking. I could still hear that voice echoing in the back of my mind. Still see Natalia’s dead eyes staring up at me.

Not real. It wasn’t real.

But it felt real. And that was the problem.

The training arena was empty when I got there. I stripped off my shirt and faced the nearest training dummy.

I swung.

My fist connected with the dummy’s head, and the impact jarred up my arm. It felt good. Solid. Real.

I swung again. And again. Left fist, right fist, over and over. The dummy rocked on its base with each punch, but never fell.

My knuckles split on the third or fourth hit. I felt the skin tear, felt the warm slide of blood down my fingers. But I didn’t stop. Couldn’t stop. If I stopped, the visions would come back. If I stopped, I’d hear that voice again.

You know what you are.

I swung harder.

A killer.

Harder.

A monster.

The dummy’s head was starting to crack. Splinters of wood jutted out where my fists had connected. My hands were screaming at me to stop, but I ignored them. Pain was good. Pain meant I was here, in the present, not trapped in some nightmare vision of the future.

Time lost meaning. I didn’t know how long I’d been hitting the dummy. It could have been minutes, or it could have been hours. All I knew was the rhythm of it. The repetitive motion. The way it kept the demons at

bay.

“Andrei!

Suddenly, something touched my shoulder. I spun, fist already raised, and found myself face to face with Natalia.

She was standing right there. Right in front of me. Close enough that I could have hit her.

I froze, arm still drawn back. My heart was hammering so hard I thought it might break through my ribs. She was looking at me with those eyes. The same eyes I’d seen in the vision. Except they weren’t dead. They were alive and worried and focused entirely on me.

I stumbled backward, nearly tripping over my own feet. My hands were shaking worse than ever. Blood dripped from my knuckles onto the packed dirt.

Natalia stared at my hands for a long moment. I could feel her confusion rippling through the bond we shared, but she didn’t mention what she saw. She had always been good at thatknowing when to push, and knowing when to let go.

I didn’t expect her to say what she said next, though.
