Stewart wasn’t an expert, but even he could tell by now that she was doing it on purpose.
The man’s long, narrow eyes narrowed as he stared at her clean, makeup-free face. “Bryn, what are you afraid of?”
Briony’s movements paused. She pretended not to understand.
“What would I be afraid of?” She looked at him and retorted, “I’ve had my milk. Shouldn’t you be getting some rest too?”
“I’m waiting for you.”
“Don’t wait for me.” Briony’s lips curved slightly, ignoring his hint. “The injured patient should rest early.”
“I had to shower and wash my hair with a glove on last night. It was so awkward. I feel like I never got properly clean.”
Briony said, “…It’s just for a few days. You’ll have to make do.”
“I can manage with my body, but washing my hair is just too difficult,” Stewart said with a straight face. “When I try to massage my scalp, the wound really hurts.”
Briony was silent.
“Bryn, I’m not trying to push my luck. I know you’re shy, so I won’t ask you to do something like help me shower.”
Briony took a deep breath. “Good, you know your limits!”

Briony was at a loss for words.

“Bryn, it’s just washing my hair.”
If it was just washing his hair, then there was really no reason to be awkward about it.
“Fine.” Briony stood up. “I’ll go change. You go upstairs first…”
“The guest room I’m in doesn’t have a bathtub.”
Briony paused, looking at him sideways.
Stewart met her gaze, his expression completely serious. “I’m just borrowing your bathtub. You don’t mind, do you?”
Briony pursed her lips.
They were a newly reconciled couple. Refusing to let him use her bathtub would seem a bit too dramatic.
Briony nodded. “Alright.”
…
Stewart went upstairs to get his clothes.
Briony went into the bathroom, gave the tub a quick rinse, and started filling it with water.
When Stewart walked into the bathroom, he saw Briony sitting on the edge of the tub. As she leaned over to check the water temperature, the collar of her bathrobe gaped open…
