Regretting the Wife He Threw Away novel Chapter 761

The female caregiver was helping Xenia sip some warm water. When she saw Briony and Stewart, she greeted them, “Ms. Kensington, Mr. Wentworth.”

Briony gave a slight nod and walked over to the bed, looking at Xenia. “How are you feeling now?”

Xenia had been unconscious for over two weeks and had lost a lot of weight. Though she had just woken up and hadn't regained her strength, her mind was clear.

She looked at Briony, a faint smile touching her pale lips. “After all the ways I went after you, here you are, paying for a caregiver for me and even taking care of my son. Briony, has anyone ever told you that you’re too soft-hearted?”

Briony smiled faintly. “To say all that in one breath, it looks like you’re really going to be fine.”

Xenia paused, then laughed, her gaze shifting to Stewart, who stood beside Briony. “Stewart, she’s quite skilled at using a soft touch to get her way. You’d better watch out, or she’ll have you wrapped around her little finger.”

Stewart’s lips curved. “Bryn is always right.”

Watching their easy back-and-forth, Xenia chuckled. “I know you two have just rekindled things and are in your honeymoon phase, but could you tone it down a bit in front of a patient?”

Xenia was putting on a brave face. Her complexion was still terrible, and though she spoke a lot, her breathing was still a little too rapid.

“You just woke up. You should talk less,” Briony said, leaning over and gently squeezing Xenia’s arm in a comforting gesture.

Xenia froze for a second, then smiled. “You’re an infuriating woman, Briony.”

Though her words were harsh and cold, her eyes betrayed her, turning red against her will.

As a woman herself, Briony felt a pang of sympathy and sorrow for Xenia.

“Just focus on getting better. Vernon is staying with me right now. He’s very well-behaved and polite. When you’re feeling a bit stronger, we’ll bring him to see you.”

At the mention of Vernon, a slight frown creased Xenia’s brow.
