Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack (Evelyn and Damon) novel Chapter 239

Nadia pov

I woke slowly, warmth surrounding me on every side, and for a brief, disoriented moment, I simply existed within that comfortable haze before actual awareness fully returned.

Ethan's arm was wrapped around my waist, his large frame pressed close against my back, his breathing slow and even against my hair, and something about the sheer, overwhelming size of him—the solid, protective presence surrounding me so completely—settled a genuine sense of safety through my chest that I couldn't remember experiencing in longer than I genuinely wanted to acknowledge.

I lay there for several long moments, simply absorbing that unfamiliar sensation, before genuine awareness of exactly how thoroughly we'd apparently ended up entangled together throughout the night finally registered properly.

I tried to shift, intending to actually create some appropriate distance now that morning had genuinely arrived, but his arm tightened immediately, pulling me back against him with obvious, sleepy possessiveness.

"Don't," he murmured, his voice thick with lingering sleep, "not yet."

"Ethan," I said, though something in my own voice carried considerably less protest than the situation probably warranted.

"Five more minutes," he said, his face pressing gently into my hair, something contented and genuine in his sleepy request.

I found myself, somewhat to my own surprise, actually allowing that small indulgence, understanding the genuine comfort of this unfamiliar warmth and safety after everything terrifying I'd survived the previous night.

We remained like that for a while longer, his breathing gradually shifting toward genuine wakefulness, and eventually he stirred properly, his arm loosening slightly though he didn't fully release me.

"How are you feeling," he asked, his voice carrying genuine, immediate concern now that actual consciousness had returned.

"Better," I said honestly, testing my throat carefully, relieved to find the earlier smoke-related soreness had eased considerably overnight. "Still tired, but genuinely better."

"Good," he said, something relieved evident in his tone. "You had me genuinely worried, given how severe that coughing became last night."
