Dorothy hurriedly hung up the phone without any hesitation. Seeing this, Ash was puzzled, but Dorothy suggested this was the fastest way to get Calvert back. “He should arrive in about an hour.”
Ash was not in a hurry, but Dorothy was quick, so she could only obediently obey.
“What’s wrong? Grandma?” Calvert thought something was wrong and hurriedly rushed back. He was panting as he asked.
Ash sat in the living room with Dorothy, showing a helpless expression. “I came to see you, but you are not home, so Grandma called you.”
This wasn’t the first time Calvert got treated like this. “Grandma, you can’t hit the emergency call button so casually!”
Dorothy snorted. “Doesn’t the emergency call button mean the situation is urgent? Ash is coming to you, and this should be a level 1 emergency.” The room suddenly fell silent.
“You two can chat. I haven’t been out in the sun today and need my Vitamin D.” Dorothy didn’t want to be a third wheel.
Calvert was not wearing a formal dress, so he should not be busy with business. ‘So why is he ignoring my messages?‘ Ash wondered.
But shortly after, she panicked. ‘Why do I have such an idea? Does it matter whether he replies?‘
She silently told herself she was in a hurry to confirm Calvert’s itinerary, worried Calvert would not be able to go and would affect Sofia’s mood.
‘It must be so.‘ She affirmed herself in her heart again and again.
Calvert wore a simple T–shirt and sat opposite her. Seeing her frowning, he asked, “What’s wrong? What’s the matter with coming here suddenly?”
Ash felt she needed to explain, “I sent you a message, but you probably didn’t see it. When I asked Shane, he said you’re not at the company today, so I came to your house. I didn’t expect to meet your grandma when I arrived.”
Calvert glanced at her lightly. “It’s okay, it’s not the first time she’s doing this, I set my phone to silent mode, but my grandma is on my emergency contact list. That’s why I could answer.
“Why are you looking for me?”
Ash was speechless. This felt strange, no matter from which angle she saw it. After all, they were not a real couple. They were just in a cooperative relationship. She felt embarrassed to travel together.
When Calvert saw she was silent, he frowned and lifted his head. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing. Grandma agreed to go out with me, but there is a request that I know is unreasonable, but I have no other way.
“She wants you to go.” Ash closed her eyes slightly. She couldn’t lie and could only tell the truth. Meanwhile, Calvert was
silent.
When she thought she was about to fail, Calvert spoke, “Alright.”
“Oh, forget it… Wait, what?” Ash thought he was refusing and had already said her answer, but he didn’t expect him to agree.
Ash’s pupils trembled as if she had heard something incredible. “Are you sure?”

Ash shook her head. “No, I’m glad to hear your answer, but it may take a little while, maybe a week or so. Are you sure you’re okay with that?”
“Wait, I think that’s impossible.” Calvert changed his answer upon seeing Ash’s awkwardness.
Ash was not happy. “Why do you change your answer so suddenly? Are you always this indecisive?”
Calvert raised his eyebrows and said calmly, “I just said yes, but you kept asking me if I could do it. It seems like you don’t want me to say yes.”
Ash was silent. In her heart, she was annoyed. The woman who had always been articulate was silent at that moment.
‘Alright, since you can, we will leave next Monday. Are you available?”
Calvert wore gold–rimmed glasses that day and looked like a scumbag mafia boss. He squinted his eyes and asked, “What must I do?” It was a reasonable question, but his delivery was quite annoying.
‘Are you free next Monday? If you are, we will leave by then.” Ash wanted to make a quick decision and finish all her things before leaving.
Calvert had many things to do at work and was super busy. However, someone in his position also deserved to rest for a while.
Moreover, the Snider Group had a clear working order. His absence wouldn’t have much impact on business if he walked out for a while. Hence, Calvert gave a hum to reply.
Ash still wanted to know the reason. “Why did you agree so readily? We’re going to go on vacation for a week or two. Aren’t you tired?”
“Why should I be tired?” Calvert asked.
“Because you have to keep this charade. Isn’t that tiring?”
Hearing the words ‘charade, Calvert’s face froze. “Do you want me to go? What you have been saying since we met makes me feel you don’t want me to go.”
Ash couldn’t tell. She didn’t know what she was thinking and why she was upset facing Calvert. Perhaps their relationship had moved beyond acting.
‘That’s ridiculous! We’ve had a clear purpose from the beginning!
Ash felt she was slowly sinking into this drama. She even thought she was no longer her usual self around Calvert.
