Rejected by Her Mate Claimed by Four Alphas novel Chapter 113

Clara’s POV

I woke up before dawn, my body still tense from the events of the previous day. The memory of Darius coming to my room twice, the way he had looked at me with suspicion mixed with desire, made my stomach twist with anxiety.

He was getting too close to the truth. I could see it in his eyes, hear it in the careful way he chose his words.

But I also couldn’t stop thinking about Killian. About the way he had smirked when I left his cabin, so confident that I would come back to him.

I hated that he might be right.

I got dressed quickly in my training clothes and slipped out of my room. The packhouse was still quiet, with most people still asleep. Perfect.

I made my way downstairs and outside, breathing in the cool morning air. I needed to clear my head, and a run always helped me think.

But more than that, I needed to see if Darius was having me watched.

I started with a slow jog around the main training area, keeping my pace easy and my route predictable. Just a normal morning workout, nothing suspicious.

After a few minutes, I became aware of another jogger in the area. A pack member I recognized but didn’t

know well, running his own route about fifty yards behind me.

I continued my circuit, paying attention to his movements without being obvious about it. When I turned

left, he turned left a few seconds later. When I slowed down, his pace slowed too.

I had a philosophy about these things. The first time could be a mistake or coincidence. The second time

was questionable. But the third time was a pattern.

And patterns didn’t lie.

I decided to test my theory. Instead of continuing my usual route, I took a sharp right turn toward the

eastern training grounds. The path was less popular, especially this early in the morning.

Sure enough, my shadow followed.

I smiled grimly to myself. So Darius was having me watched. That meant my performance yesterday hadn’t been as convincing as I had hoped.

Time to lose my tail.

I increased my pace slightly, making it look like I was just pushing myself harder in my workout. The pack

member behind me matched my speed, trying to maintain the same distance.

Htook another unexpected turn, this time heading toward the wooded area behind the packhouse. The trees would give me cover and multiple escape routes.

The moment I was hidden by the tree line, I changed tactics completely.

Instead of continuing forward, I doubled back along a parallel path, moving quietly through the underbrush. Years of training had taught me how to move without making noise, and I used every skill l

had.

Within minutes, I was behind my pursuer.

He was still jogging along the path I had been on, looking around nervously as he realized he had lost sight of me. He stopped, clearly unsure of what to do next.

I stepped out from behind a large oak tree, directly in his path.

Looking for someone?I asked calmly.

The pack member jumped, spinning around to face me with wide, startled eyes. Clara! I didn’t see you

there.

I’m sure you didn’t,I replied, crossing my arms over my chest. What’s your name?

Tyler,he said, his voice slightly shaky.

Well, Tyler, I have a message for you to take back to Alpha Darius.

Tyler’s face went pale. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Don’t insult my intelligence,I said, my voice turning cold. You’ve been following me for the past twenty

minutes. You think I didn’t notice?

I was just out for a run,

Ver protested weakly.

I stepped closer to him, close enough that he had to tilt his head back to maintain eye contact. Even

though he was larger than me, I could see the fear in his eyes.

Listen carefully,I said, my voice deadly quiet. You’re going to go back to Darius and tell him to stop

having me followed. If I catch anyone else tracking my movements, I won’t be nearly this polite about it.

Tyler swallowed hard. Clara, I really was just-

The message, Tyler,I interrupted. Make sure he gets it.

Tyler nodded quickly, clearly eager to get away from me. I’llI’ll tell him.

Good. Now get out of my sight.

Tyler practically ran back toward the packhouse, leaving me alone in the woods.

I waited several minutes to make sure he was really gone, then made my way deeper into the forest. There was a littleused trail that led toward the neighboring pack’s territory, and I knew it well enough to navigate
