CHAPTER 115-1

Alpha Darius’s POV

I turned my attention back to the speaker, forcing myself to focus on the formal proceedings despite my curiosity about what Lucien, Ronan, and Killiärr were discussing so intently. Whatever they were plotting could wait. Right now, I had a different game to play.

Beta Ryan from the Shadowcrest Pack was still droning on about mining operations and territorial expansions. Jaden’s representative looked confident, polished, delivering his report like he was reading from a carefully prepared script. Everything about his presentation screamed of trying to project strength and stability.

Perfect.

I had been waiting for this moment since the presentations began. Clara sat beside me, the picture of

grace and elegance, completely unaware of the bombshell she represented simply by existing. To everyone else in this room, she was just my beautiful mate. But to one person here, she was supposed to

be a ghost.

I let my eyes sweep across the room, taking in the faces of the other alphas and their representatives. Most were paying polite attention to Beta Ryan’s presentation, some checking their phones, others engaged in quiet side conversations.

But I was looking for one specific reaction.

As Beta Ryan continued his report, I stood slowly and offered Clara my hand. Come,I said quietly. I want to introduce you to a few more people.

She looked up at me with those warm brown eyes, a slight question in her expression. Now?

Perfect timing,” I replied with a smile that I kept carefully controlled.

She took my hand gracefully and rose from her seat. Several heads turned our way as we began moving through the room, but that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted everyone to see her. I wanted every alpha, every beta, every representative to get a good look at the woman on my arm.

We moved slowly, deliberately, weaving between the tables as Beta Ryan’s voice continued in the background. I nodded to various alphas as we passed, exchanging brief pleasantries, but my real focus was on creating the maximum visual impact.

Clara handled the attention beautifully, smiling graciously when introduced, making appropriate small talk when addressed. She was a natural at this, moving through the political landscape like she’d been born to

  1. it.

Alpha Darius, called out Alpha Marcus from the Eastern Territories as we approached his table. Your mate is even more lovely than the stories suggested.

Thank you I replied, my hand settling possessively on Clara’s waist. Clara has been quite the addition to our pack

I can imagine,Marcus said with obvidus appreciation. You’re a fortunate man.

Very fortunate,I agreed, making sure my voice carried far enough for the nearby tables to hear.

As we continued our circuit around the room, I kept one eye on Beta Ryan at the podium and the other on the faces around us. The reaction was everything I’d hoped for. Whispered conversations, appreciative glances, the kind of attention that spoke of respect and perhaps a touch of envy.

But i was still waiting for the reaction that mattered most.

It came just as Beta Ryan was concluding his presentation, wrapping up with some standard platitudes

about pack strength and future growth. I had maneuvered Clara and myself to a position where we were

clearly visible from the front of the room, perfectly framed for anyone looking out from the podium area.

Beta Ryan’s eyes swept across the audience as he delivered his final remarks, a practiced gesture meant

to make eye contact with as many important figures as possible. Standard presentation technique.

His gaze passed over our table, moved on, then snapped back so fast I was surprised he didn’t give himself whiplash.

The change in his expression was instantaneous and unmistakable. The confident, polished demeanor cracked like an eggshell. His face went white, then red, then white again. His mouth opened slightly, as if he’d forgotten how to breathe.

He was staring directly at Clara with the kind of shock usually reserved for seeing the dead rise from their

graves.

Which, from his perspective, was exactly what was happening.

I felt a surge of dark satisfaction course through me. This was even better than I’d hoped. The careful composure Beta Ryan had maintained throughout his entire presentation was completely shattered. He actually stumbled over his next words, losing his place in what had clearly been a memorized speech.

CHAPTER 115-2

Andand in conclusion, he stammered, his eyes still fixed on Clara like she was some kind of apparition, the Shadowcrest Pack looks forward tofo continued cooperation andmutual benefit

His voice trailed off completely for a moment. Several alphas in the front rows turned to look at him with confusion, clearly wondering what had caused such a dramatic change in his demeanor.

Clara, for her part, seemed completely oblivious to the effect she was having. She was listening politely to the presentation, occasionally glancing around the room with mild interest. She had no idea that her mere presence was causing a minor crisis at the podium.

I, on the other hand, was enjoying every second of it.

Beta Ryan managed to pull himself together enough to finish his presentation, but the damage was done. His confident delivery had become halting and uncertain. He kept glancing in our direction like he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

As he concluded and stepped away from the podium to scattered applause, I could see him pulling out his

phone with shaking hands. No doubt preparing to send an urgent message to his alpha about this

impossible development.

I remembered the spy I’d captured months ago, the one Jaden had sent to track Clara after she’d escaped his territory. The man was strongwilled but I’d tortured him until he agreed to call Jaden directly, to report with complete certainty that Clara was dead. The spy had told Jaden that he’d heard she died from brutal attacks while crossing the borders, making it sound like he’d gathered the information from reliable

sources.

Then, once the call was finished and Jaden believed his former mate was gone forever, I’d given him a befitting death before sending his mutilated body back to Shadowcrest Pack as a reminder of what happens to those who trespassed on my territory.

Jaden had received both gifts: the news of Clara’s death and the corpse of his spy.

And Jaden had probably thought that chapter of his life was closed forever. How wrong he’d been.

I couldn’t wait to see his reaction when Beta Ryan delivered the news. When Jaden learned that not only was Clara alive, but she was thriving. That she’d not only survived whatever ordeal his warriors had put her through, but had emerged stronger, more beautiful, more powerful than ever.

That she was now mine.

The irony was delicious. Jaden had tried to have her killed to eliminate a perceived threat, only to have her end up with someone far more dangerous than she’d ever been on her own. He’d thrown away a treasure and handed it directly to his enemies.

You look pleased about something,Clara murmured quietly as we returned to our seats.

Just thinking about business. I replied amoothly. Some deals are more satisfying than others

She gave me a curious look but didn’t press. Smart woman. She was learning to read the political undercurrents in these situations, understanding when to ask questions and when to simply observe.

The formal presentations continued, but I found it hard to concentrate or anything other than the delicious knowledge of what was happening behind the scenes. Somewhere, Beta Ryan was probably composing frantic messages to his alpha. Somewhere, Jaden was about to receive the shock of his life.

I hoped he was sitting down when he got the news.
