CHAPTER 165
Clara’s POV
“Come in,” Darius called.
Xander entered, his expression urgent. Alpha, I’m sorry to interrupt, but there’s a situation at the eastern border that needs your immediate attention.”
Darius sighed, setting down his phone. “What kind of situation?”
“Territorial dispute with the neighboring pack. They’re claiming we’ve been hunting on their land, and they
have three of our patrol members detained.”
“Shit,” Darius muttered, already standing up. “How long will this take to resolve?”
“Hard to say,” Xander replied. “But it needs to be handled personally. Alpha to Alpha.”
Darius looked at me, frustration clear in his expression. “I’m sorry. This can’t wait.”
“Go,” I said immediately. “Handle it.”
“But the call to Ronan…”
“I can handle Ronan,” I said firmly. “I know what we need from him.”
Darius hesitated. “Are you sure? He can be… difficult.”
I smiled. “I think I can manage one Alpha.”
“He’ll probably try to flirt with you,” Darius warned, his jaw tightening slightly.
“Let him try,” I said. “I know exactly how to handle men like Ronan.”
Darius studied my face for a moment, then nodded. “Alright. Make the call. But if he says anything
inappropriate…”
“I’ll handle it,” I promised.

He kissed me quickly, then followed Xander out of the office, leaving me alone with the phone and a very
important call to make.
I settled into Darius’s chair, pulling Ronan’s contact information up on the phone. This conversation would set the tone for everything that came next. I needed to be smart, strategic, and completely in control.
I dialed the number.
It rang twice before a familiar voice answered. “Well, well. If it isn’t Alpha Darius calling to grovel for my help.”
“Hello, Ronan,” I said calmly. “It’s Clara.”
There was a pause, then his voice changed completely. “Clara? What are you doing answering Darius’s

phone?”
“He had pack business to handle,” I said. “But we need to talk.”

“Hold on,” Ronan said, and I could hear movement on his end of the line. “Are you safe? I heard rumors about what happened, but details were sketchy.”
“I’m safe now,” I said. “But you’re right to be concerned about what happened.”
“Tell me,” he said, his voice hard. “All of it.”
I gave him the basic facts. The kidnapping, the chains, the insulting offer from Jaden and Liana. With each detail, I could hear Ronan’s breathing getting heavier, his anger building.`
“That piece of shit,” he snarled when I finished. “The absolute fucking nerve of him. Kidnapping another
Alpha’s mate? He’s lost his goddamn mind.”
“He certainly has,” I agreed. “Which is why we’re having this conversation.”
“What do you need?” Ronan asked immediately.
But then his tone shifted, becoming playful again. “Though I have to say, I’m flattered that you called me
personally. Miss me that much, sweetheart?”
I didn’t respond to the flirtation, keeping my voice professional. “We need to discuss alliance terms.”
“Come on, Clara,” Ronan continued, clearly enjoying himself. “No need to be so formal. We’re practically
family now.”
I remained silent, letting him talk.
“You know, when I heard you’d been taken, I was ready to mobilize my entire pack to help search for you.
Darius is lucky he found you first, or I might have been tempted to keep you for myself.”
Still, I said nothing.
“Is the big bad Alpha listening to this conversation?” Ronan asked, amusement clear in his voice.
“Because I’d love to see his face right now.”
“Are you scared of him?” I asked quietly.
Ronan laughed. “Scared? Of Darius? Sweetheart, I’m not scared of anyone.”
r
“I meant Jaden,” I said, my voice deadly calm. “Are you scared of Jaden? The man who killed your sister?”
The laughter stopped immediately. The line went completely silent..
I could almost hear Ronan’s mind racing through the phone. His sister’s death wasn’t public knowledge. Most people knew he had issues with Jaden, but they assumed it was territory disputes or general Alpha rivalry. Very few knew the truth about what really happened to Elena.
But I’d done my research. I’d dug deep into pack histories, old alliance records, incident reports. I’d pieced together the real story of why Ronan hated Jaden with such burning intensity.

“What did you just say?” Ronan’s voice was different now. Colder. Dangerous.

“You heard me,” I said calmly. “Elena. Your little sister. The ofre Jaden murdered when she was just eight
years old.”
“Stop,” Ronan’s voice cut through the phone like a blade. “How the fuck do you know about Elena?”
I waited, letting the silence stretch. I knew I’d hit exactly the right nerve.
“How do you know that name?” he demanded, and I could hear him moving around, probably pacing. “Who
