CHAPTER 175-1

Clara’s POV

Although Darius had mentioned we’d talk later, I was yet to find him anywhere.

Unfortunately, with the amount of planning that needed to be done, later never seemed to come. The rest of the day was filled with meetings, strategy sessions, and coordination calls with other packs.

That evening, I found something waiting on my bedside table. An old book with a worn leather cover filled

with pack histories and bloodlines I’d never seen before.

A note fell out, written in neat handwriting I recognized as Lucien’s.

Thought you might find this interesting. Some knowledge is too valuable to be lost. -L

I sat in the reading chair by the window and flipped through the pages. Old pack traditions, forgotten

fighting moves, bloodline secrets that most wolves had never heard of. This wasn’t just any book. This

was the kind of information that could change everything.

Lucien was showing me he had access to power and knowledge that others didn’t. The message was

clear.

The second day started early when Lucien appeared at my door carrying a steaming cup of coffee that

smelled like heaven.

You look like you could use this,he said, setting the cup on my desk.

I took a sip and my eyes widened. This wasn’t just coffee. This was liquid gold, rich and smooth with flavors I couldn’t even identify.

A blend my pack imports from the southern territories,” he said, sitting across from my desk with that dangerous smile. Costs more than most packs spend on food in a month.

He was showing off, making it clear that he had resources and wealth that could make my life very

ľ

comfortable.

Before I could respond, the door opened and Killian walked in like he owned the place.

Hope I’m not interrupting,he said, moving to stand beside my desk. Close. Too close. I came to discuss those tactical exercises. Thought you might want to see what real warriors look like in action.

The challenge in his voice was unmistakable. He was taking a shot at Lucien’s fighters.

Real warriors?Lucien’s voice was silk over steel. How interesting. I suppose that depends on your

definition.

The temperature in the room dropped as they stared each other down like wolves fighting over the same

prey.

After they left, I sat back in my chair and tried to process what was happening. They weren’t just being

friendly. They were competing. For me.

The thought should have been ridiculous. I was mated to Darius. I’d chosen him, bonded with him.

Clairy

So why did my pulse quicken every time one of them looked at me like I was the most important thing in

the room?

That afternoon I positioned myself at the edge of the training field to watch their practice. Killian’s warriors moved like a machine built for war. Every strike was planned, every formation designed for maximum

damage. When Lucien’s team took the field, they flowed like liquid death around obstacles, striking from

impossible angles.

Both displays were scary in completely different ways.

Quite a show,Darius said, appearing beside me with an amused expression.

It really was,I said, still mesmerized by what I’d seen.

They’re trying to impress you,he said, and I could hear the confidence in his voice. Not jealousy or concern, just simple fact. Both of them.

When the exercises ended, both Alphas approached me with the confidence of men who knew they’d just

put on a hell of a demonstration.

What did you think?Killian asked.

Impressive,I said honestly. Both of you.

Perhaps you’d be interested in seeing a direct comparison,” Lucien suggested. “My team against his.

Killian’s eyes lit up like he’d been hoping for exactly/this. Now that’s an interesting idea.

I felt a thrill of excitement, but before I could respond, Darius stepped forward with that easy confidence

that never failed to make my heart skip.

Feel free to put on whatever show you want,he said casually his arm sliding around my waist. Clara’s already made her choice.

The simple touch was more effective than any show of dominance. His hand was warm, familiar, sure.

Like he had no doubt about where I belonged.

CHAPTER 175-2

Lucien’s smile tightened slightly, but he recovered quickly. Of course. Just thought she might appreciate seeing different fighting styles.“~

I’m sure she would,Darius agreed pleasantly: Clara appreciates excellence in all its forms.

The next morning I woke to find a single red rose on my windowsill. Before I could fully process the

romantic gesture, there was a knock on the door.

A young pack member entered, looking uncomfortable. Luna Clara,he said. There’s a delivery for you.

Flowers from Alpha Killian.

Darius emerged from the bathroom, took one look at the rose and the expression on the messenger’s

face, and chuckled.

Persistent,he said, sounding more amused than annoyed. I’ll give them that.

Doesn’t it bother you?I asked.

Should it?he replied, pulling me into his arms. You’re wearing my mark. You’re in my bed. You chose me, Clara. Let them waste their time and resources trying to change what’s already decided.

His confidence was complete and solid. Not the jealous behavior I might have expected, but the calm certainty of a man who knew exactly where he stood. Except I felt the difference in his silence.

It was in the way he looked at the rosenot with amusement, but with calculation, with the kind of attention a predator gives a scent on the wind. He didn’t smile. He didn’t answer my question. His hand slid to my waist, fingers tightening with a pressure that made my stomach flutter.

I’m going to need you,he said finally, his voice low and calm and dangerous, to stop looking so fuckable

when other men are around.

I blinked. That wasn’t a joke. That wasn’t teasing. That was a warning wrapped in velvet.

Before I could reply, he caught my wrist, turned me in one smooth movement, and walked me backwards until my back hit the wall with a soft thud. His mouth hovered over mine, not kissing, not even touching, just letting his breath pour across my lips like steam.

His fingers curled into the base of my throat, not pressing, just resting, his thumb brushing my pulse.
