CHAPTER 34
Alpha Darius‘ POV
My body was still burning, still coming down from the high of fucking Clara until she screamed my name. Her scent was everywhere–on my skin, my clothes, in the air. No wolf with a functioning nose would miss
I adjusted my stance as Luka pushed the door open, positioning myself to block his direct view of the desk. My shirt clung to my back, damp with sweat. I could still feel her on me, around me, her taste lingering on my tongue.
Luka stepped into the office, a folder clutched in his hand.
His nostrils flared slightly as the door swung shut behind him. There was no missing the moment he caught Clara’s scent–the slight widening of his eyes, the momentary freeze in his step.
To his credit, his expression remained neutral, professional.
“The border patrol reports, Alpha,” he said, extending the folder. “And the tracking data from the eastern
sector.”
I moved forward to take it from him, careful to keep distance between us. “Anything unusual?”
He hesitated. “Possibly. We found tracks that don’t match any of the local wildlife. Too large for normal wolves, but the pattern is… different from rogues we’ve seen before.”
My attention sharpened, professional instinct kicking in despite the situation. “Show me.”
I gestured toward the small conference table in the corner of my office, as far from the desk as possible. My c**k was still semi–hard, sensitive against the fabric of my pants, but the potential threat to my territory provided enough distraction to maintain my composure.
Luka spread the papers across the table, pointing to a set of maps and photographs. “Here, along the eastern ridge. The spacing is unusual. It’s wider than normal wolves, but with a different weight distribution than humans or werewolves.”
I leaned over the table, studying the images. The tracks were concerning. Deeper on one side, suggesting an injury or some kind of specialized movement pattern.
“They crossed our border markers three times in the past week,” Luka continued. “Always in the same area, always at night.”
“Increase patrols in that sector,” I said. “Double the night shifts. I want motion sensors placed at half–mile intervals along that ridge.”
Luka nodded, making notes on the report. “There’s more. We found traces of blood at two different sites. Not wolf, not human. The lab is still analyzing it.”
CHAPTER
Claim
My instincts spiked in that very moment. Unknown predators circling my territory, testing boundaries, potentially drawing blood. This required my attention.
“I’ll want those results immediately when they come in,” I said, moving back toward my desk, forgetting momentarily what or who was hiding beneath it.
I circled around and sat in my chair, the leather creaking under my weight. Luka remained at the conference table, gathering the remaining papers.
“The eastern patrol also reported unusual activity near the old mining camp,” he said, his back partially turned to me as he collected the maps. “Footprints, recently disturbed earth. Could be nothing, but-”
A soft touch against my inner thigh made me freeze mid–response.
Clara’s fingers, light as a whisper, traced a line from my knee upward. I kept my expression carefully neutral even as my body tensed at the unexpected contact.
Fucking hell. Was she serious?
“But what?” I prompted, my voice betraying nothing.
Luka turned, still focusing on the reports. “But given the timing of these appearances, so close to the full moon, I thought it warranted immediate attention.”
Clara’s hand moved higher, her touch more deliberate now, fingers walking up the inside of my thigh. I could feel her breath against my pants, warm and steady. She was really doing this, tormenting me while one of my squad members stood only feet away.
I shifted slightly in my chair, trying to create space, but her fingers followed, more insistent now. She was payback, pure and simple. And damn if my c**k wasn’t responding, hardening under her persistent touch.
“You were right to bring this to me,” I said, leaning forward slightly to look at the additional papers Luka was now bringing to the desk. The movement pressed my thigh more firmly against Clara’s hand.
I felt her smile against my leg.
Luka placed another set of photographs on the desk, pointing to several marked locations. “These are the sites where we found evidence of disturbance. It forms a pattern, Alpha. Not random. Whoever or whatever this is, they’re methodical.”
I forced myself to focus on the images, on the potential threat to my pack, even as Clara’s hand slid higher, cupping me through my pants. Her fingers traced the outline of my c**k, already half–hard again from her touch.
“Is there anything else in these reports about-” I had to stop, clear my throat as her fingers found the button of my pants and stealthily worked it open. “About the timing of these intrusions?”
If Luka noticed anything unusual in my tone, he didn’t show it. “Always between two and four in the morning. Never during the day. Never when our regular patrols would be passing through.”
CHAPTER 34
Clara’s nimble fingers eased my zipper down, the sound mercifully covered by Luka shuffling papers on my desk. I clenched my jaw, trying to keep my breathing even as her warm hand slipped inside, finding me through the thin fabric of my underwear.
“Which suggests they’re watching us,” I managed, my voice impressively steady. “Learning our patterns.”
“Exactly,” Luka said, turning back to the map. “I’ve marked the locations where we should place additional
scouts.”
Clara tugged my underwear down just enough to free my c**k. A drop of precum leaked from the tip as her
fingers wrapped around the base, squeezing gently. I gripped the arms of my chair, knuckles white with the
effort of maintaining control.
