Chapter 125
Raven’s POV
I burrowed into the pillows, Dexter at my back, and Nox at my front. Ezra usually slept with us, too, but he still hadn’t returned from checking on Asher. I couldn’t deny that his absence put me on edge. That, and also because I worried about Asher.
Dexter hooked an arm around my waist and nuzzled my hair. Nox’s eyes met mine in the dark, the only light coming from the cracked bathroom door. He slid his fingers through mine and pressed a kiss to my forehead.
I’d never felt safer than I did between them. And because of that security, sleep claimed me before I could even count to ten. But they couldn’t protect me from my own mind.
Rain pelted down on me, making it hard to see. My body shivered and burned all at the same time. The freezing rain chilled me to the bone, but
the slices on my back were pure fire.
“I’ll beat the weakness out of you, Jessica. We will make a real wolf of you yet,” Michael snarled.
The whip cracked, the only warning before a fresh wave of flames ignited across my back. I tried to hold back all sound, knowing it would only
make my father angrier. But a soft whimper escaped my lips.
A snarl tore through the air. The whip cracked again, and more fire engulfed my back. It happened over and over until I was no longer standing,
held up only by the ties at my wrists.
A figure filled my blurry vision. Not Michael but his beta, Gavin. His lip curled. “Weak abomination. Maybe we can beat the caster out of her,
too.”
Michael’s breath cascaded over my cheek.
“You think they’ll save you? The second any of those wolves even try to come for you, I’ll rip out their still-beating hearts.”
A sob tore from my throat as my tears mixed with the rain.
Michael spat at me. “So damned weak. Ending you would be a mercy to us all. But not until you cower. Not until you bleed.”
He pulled out a blade, and the moment it carved into my skin, I screamed.
Nox’s POV
My wolf growled, pushing at my skin, wanting free. When I didn’t wake, the growling intensified, and he raked his claws against my insides. It was enough to make my eyelids flutter, the faint glow of the room coming into focus. And that’s when I heard it.
A pained whimper.
Every part of me came alert as my gaze focused on the woman in front of me. Raven whimpered again, her face contorting in agony. I knew it had to be a nightmare, but she didn’t thrash like you might expect. The only signs that anything was wrong were her voice and the expression
on her face,
I reached out a hand and skimmed it over her cheek. “Raven, Wake up. You’re safe,”
The contact had her striking out, trying to fight me off as Dexter jerked awake behind her. I managed to block Raven’s blow, catching her wrist. “It’s okay. It’s just a dream.”
“What the hell?” Dexter mumbled. But it only took him a matter of seconds to realize what was happening. He held her tightly so she wouldn’t
hurt herself.

I pressed my forehead to Raven’s, wrapping her in my scent and touch, letting her know I was there. “Wake up. We’re here. We’ve got you.”
