Ten minutes later, the assistant checked the incoming transfer and turned to Emma.
"Boss, the penalty fee has hit the account. But about the exhibition..."
The assistant looked incredibly stressed. Half a million dollars was pocket change to Emma, but the invitations had been mailed out a month in advance. Changing the venue at the very last second was a logistical nightmare.
"We'll just change the venue. Don't worry about it."
Emma had only gone today to see if there was room for negotiation, hoping to save herself the hassle.
But since that wasn't an option, moving it was fine.
It was her exhibition. Changing the location or even delaying the date wouldn't draw a single word of criticism from anyone who mattered.
"But time is running out. Booking a standard gallery requires months of advance notice."
The assistant rubbed his forehead in sheer panic. Emma merely raised an eyebrow, casually spinning her phone in her hand. A smile touched her eyes.
"Drive to the Harrington Corp headquarters."
Standard galleries were hard to book, but Carter probably had a massive portfolio of available real estate. He seemed to own half the city.
This time, Emma didn't call ahead. She walked straight into the corporate lobby.
"Excuse me, ma'am, you cannot enter without an appointment."
A secretary stood up to block her path. Emma glanced over, realizing a new reception desk had been installed outside Carter's office.
She blinked. "I have an appointment."
"I apologize, ma'am, but Mr. Harrington has canceled all of his appointments for today. You cannot go in."
The secretary was strictly doing her job. Emma smiled warmly and didn't give her a hard time.
She simply pulled out her phone and shot Carter a text.
[Come out and get me.]
Inside the office, the billionaire CEO—who had been sulking alone because his wife had left earlier—instantly lit up the second he saw the pinned notification pop up.
