The other patrons in the cafe turned their attention to the drama, highly entertained. Seeing Emma getting verbally trashed brought growing, mocking smiles to their faces.

Just as everyone leaned in, wondering how she would retaliate, Emma maintained a warm, radiant smile and slowly picked up her coffee cup...

"Gillian, look out!"

Phoebe had heard rumors over the last few days that Emma had a habit of slapping Gillian. Acting on pure instinct, she shoved Gillian behind her and used her own body as a shield.

But Emma merely brought the cup to her lips and took a calm, elegant sip.

On one side was absolute grace; on the other, terrified panic. The contrast made the whole scene look completely ridiculous.

Yet Emma wasn't laughing.

Because back in their school days, this was exactly how Phoebe used to protect her.

Phoebe was still the kind of person who gave everything to protect her friends. Emma let out a quiet sigh in her heart.

She set down her cup, pushed the perfectly sliced cake toward the edge of the table, and looked at the two of them with a bright smile.

"Want a piece?"

Her tone was calm, almost friendly, but it made Gillian's heart violently skip a beat.

Emma was a total psycho!

"It's just a trashy piece of cake. Choke on it yourself."

Gillian felt a sudden spike of fear. She had lost to Emma far too many times recently.

Every time that bitch smiled like that, someone ended up bleeding.

Gillian turned on her heel to leave, but Emma's voice floated over, chillingly light. "Did I hear an apology?"

Phoebe frowned, her tone turning defensive and harsh. "You just terrified Gillian, and you expect her to apologize to you?"

Emma shifted her gaze onto Phoebe. "Did you not hear how she just spoke to me?"

Phoebe's face paled with embarrassment, but she gritted her teeth. "She... I can apologize for her... but you scared her, so I—"
