Rejected then Claimed by the Alpha King (Liam and Hope) novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2

I looked quietly at the she-wolf standing in front of me, so changed that I almost couldn’t recognize her.

Back then, she had been an omega with frizzy hair, plain clothes, and eyes like a startled fawn.

After six years under Liam’s careful protection, she had grown into a dazzling Luna.

I smiled politely, distant but composed. “I did leave the werewolf realm.”

Maggie widened her eyes in surprise.

“Really? But Hope, I tried looking for you so many times back then. They all said that after you were rejected,

you went to work at a strip club…”

She spoke without thinking. Before she could finish, Liam cut her off.

“Enough. Don’t bring up the past.”

He reached out and ruffled her hair indulgently.

“I bought you red velvet cake. If you don’t eat it now, it’ll melt.”

Maggie kept talking with her mouth full, trying to persuade me to stay.

“Hope, it wasn’t easy running into you. Let us treat you to a meal, okay?”

“I know you hate us for what happened back then. But you were kind to me. You brought me back to the pack

and supported me for three years.”

“Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today…”

She looked sincere enough that refusing her would make me seem ungrateful.

I glanced at my watch. There was still time.

“All right. I have an hour and a half.”

They chose the restaurant.

On the way, she chatted nonstop and playfully fed Liam bites of cake with her fork. With me present, Liam’s

movements were stiff. He caught her restless hand.

“Behave yourself. Hope is watching.”

Maggie stuck out her tongue playfully.

“Sorry, Hope. After we sealed the mate bond, we got used to being like this. Sometimes we can’t even help kissing when we’re out. I hope you don’t mind.”

I quietly watched the flash of provocation and pride pass through her eyes, then smiled.

“It’s fine. After all, back when you first joined the pack, you couldn’t help having sex with him in my bedroom

either. I got used to it.”

The air froze instantly.

Maggie and Liam both looked uncomfortable, their expressions stiffening, while I remained calm and continued walking.

Before dinner, we passed a fireworks shop. Maggie’s interest was immediately piqued. She insisted on dragging Liam inside.

“Didn’t you say you’d set off fireworks for my birthday in three days, for the whole pack? I want to pick the style in advance. Hope, you don’t mind, right?”

I smiled. “Not at all.”

Liam gave me a long, unreadable look before turning to the counter.

“This one. Tears of the Sea.”

I froze.

Memories I had almost forgotten came rushing back all at once.

Liam had once loved me deeply. Everyone said he was a notorious mate-spoiling Alpha.

As an Alpha, he never attended parties. When other she-wolves asked for his contact information, he

rejected them coldly.

He published stacks of professional books on pack defense, yet tucked among them was one titled A Confession of Love, written entirely for me.

The entire Redmoon Pack praised our perfect love.

Every year on my birthday, he made a grand show of setting off fireworks across the pack’s territory.

Until the day I was organizing the bookshelf and accidentally found a photo tucked inside one of his books.

In it, a young she-wolf wearing a miniskirt was straddling his lap, smiling at the camera.

I recognized her instantly. It was Maggie. The omega I had brought back to the pack and personally

She had been one of the pack members training under Liam.

On a stormy day, she had been surrounded by a group of rogues. I was the one who stepped in and saved

her.
