Rejected then Claimed by the Alpha King (Liam and Hope) novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Thomas arrived in a dark gray suit, his posture tall and composed.

He was holding the hand of a little girl with twin braids, who was my daughter, Belle.

The moment he saw Liam gripping my wrist, his brows knit slightly.

He strode over and, without a word, stepped in front of me, placing himself between us.

“Hey,” Thomas said calmly, his voice low but heavy with authority, “you were just grabbing my mate and refusing to let go. Care to explain?”

His tone wasn’t loud, yet it carried an unmistakable pressure that left no room for argument.

Liam’s expression changed instantly.

The moment his eyes landed on Thomas, all the color drained from his face.

“A-Alpha King?”

Thomas had only recently taken over the position of Alpha King and kept a deliberately low profile.

Many didn’t yet know he had sealed the mate bond with me.

An ordinary Alpha like Liam was insignificant in front of him.

“K-King Thomas?”

Liam’s hand froze midair, his voice noticeably weaker. “I’m Hope’s… ex-mate.”

“Ex-mate?”

Thomas raised an eyebrow, then looked down at me. His gaze softened at once.

“Hope, how come you never mentioned this? I honestly thought your ex-mate was dead.”

Liam’s face turned ashen as he stared at me in disbelief.

I smiled faintly. “People who don’t matter aren’t worth mentioning.”

Belle peeked out from behind Thomas and called out, “Mommy!”

I crouched down and hugged her.

She kissed my cheek and whispered seriously, “Daddy said Mommy was talking to bad people. I’m here to

protect Mommy.”

Maggie’s expression flickered between green and white.

She forced a smile and tried to smooth things over.

“So Hope’s mate is King Thomas… that’s really… really impressive. I thought Hope hadn’t been doing well. these past few years. I didn’t expect her to already be the Luna Queen…”

She smiled ingratiatingly and reached out, trying to shake Thomas’s hand.

He ignored her completely. With one arm around my shoulders, Thomas spoke evenly.

“We have other plans.”

As we passed Liam, he suddenly spoke up. “King Thomas… Hope, she-”

“My Luna’s name,” Thomas cut in coldly, glancing at him sideways, “is not something you get to call. You

should address her as Luna Queen.”

Then, his gaze sharpened.

“And stay away from her.”

Liam opened his mouth, but in the end, not a single word came out.

Before leaving, I didn’t forget to pick up the two boxes of lemon pie.

I added casually, as an afterthought, “Oh, one more thing. Those three-hundred-dollar lemon pies? My

daughter and I eat one every day. It’s not because we can’t afford them.”

As our family of three walked away together, Liam stood rooted to the spot, his face drained of color as he

stood frozen for a long moment.

After sushi, I stood by the roadside while Thomas went to pick up a gift for Belle.

Just then, raised voices carried from the French restaurant nearby.

“Why are you pulling that face? Don’t think I didn’t notice the moment you saw Hope, you couldn’t take your eyes off her!”

“You keep saying you’ve forgotten her. Ask yourself, have you really? Every time you talk in your sleep at night, whose name are you calling if not Hope?”

“And my last birthday, those fireworks. Do you dare say it wasn’t because you zoned out that the words ended up carved as ‘Hope, I love you”?”

“You said it was muscle memory, habit. You’re lying to me! Liam, you never let go of Hope!
