Chapter 9
After the ceremony ended, Liam hurried toward me, stepping into my path to block my way.
“Hope! Listen to me! Let me explain! I was deceived back then! I regret it! I really regret everything!”
I paused for a split second.
Liam had always cared obsessively about his image.
He never raised his voice in public, never did anything that might damage his dignity or status.
Yet now, he was clutching a worn copy of Confession of Love he had once written for me, shouting that he
regretted everything.
Thomas stepped in front of me, shielding me completely. “Alpha Liam, show some restraint.”
“I still have something to say to her!”
Liam’s eyes were bloodshot as he stared past Thomas, straight at me.
“Hope, let’s start over, okay? I’ll break the mate bond with Maggie. I’ll kick her out of the pack. I’ll give her
anything she wants-I just want YOU!”
I smiled and interrupted him, my voice calm and steady.
“Do you really think that’s possible?”
“When you locked me up like a lunatic back then, watched me hurt myself without lifting a finger, and even
told me to go die somewhere else, did you ever think about today?”
“Why was it that you could reject me with a single excuse of ‘taking responsibility,’ let someone else become
your Luna, and think it was justified?”
“And now you expect me to divorce my husband just because you decided to ‘give up’? Who do you think you
are?”
I spoke without the slightest tremor.
“I’m living a good life now. I have a mate who loves me, a wonderful daughter, and a future that has already
moved on.”
“You and Maggie are just garbage I got rid of long ago. No reason to dig it out of the trash.”
Liam froze. Tears suddenly streamed down his face.

“I know I was wrong… Hope, please… give me one more chance…”
Thomas let out a cold laugh.
“Hope gave you chances,” he said flatly. “She gave you countless chances. You destroyed every single one
with your own hands six years ago.”
He turned and signaled to the warriors.
“Escort Alpha Liam out. Don’t let him stay here and ruin the atmosphere.”
As Liam was dragged away, Maggie suddenly broke free and rushed toward me, pointing at me as she
screamed.
“Hope! You bitch! You did this on purpose! You planned all of this! Today was a setup! You wanted to humiliate us in public, didn’t you?”
“You disappeared for six years, but you never stopped thinking about revenge! You planned this for six whole
years just to destroy us!”
Now, she was the one being labeled insane.
Thomas’s eyes turned icy. The warriors moved immediately, clamping a hand over her mouth and dragging
her away.
“Someone like her isn’t worth a single word.” Thomas took my hand. “Let’s go home.”
I merely glanced back at them once, my expression calm.
Cause and effect always come full circle.
That much, at least, was true.
