Sebastian's gaze remained resolute, and he had no intention of retreating. He understood that the closer he got to the center, the more likely he would encounter the magical artifact. So, he gritted his teeth and pressed forward.
Each step grew more grueling as the flames roared like a furious beast trying to consume him. His clothes had already been burned to ashes during his earlier advance. After all, his body was now exposed directly to the raging fire.
The flames scorched his skin, and the pain felt like a thousand needles stabbing at him all at once. Still, he persisted and advanced one step at a time.
At last, he was just 15 feet from the center. The flames here had turned a deep purple, and the heat was suffocating.
Sebastian's body began to tremble, and he felt like he was on the verge of melting. But his resolve only hardened. He believed that if he could endure a little longer, he would find the magical artifact and achieve his goal.
Taking a deep breath, he summoned all his strength and made the final few strides. Then, he spotted a blood core at the center of the sea of fire.
"Could this be the magical artifact that Jaric mentioned?" Sebastian's eyes filled with astonishment and doubt.
The blistering heat of the flames left him no time to ponder. He gathered his spiritual energy into his palm and grabbed the blood core. Then, he quickly retreated because his body had reached its limit.
Once Sebastian was out of the sea of fire, he sat on the ground and examined the blood core in his hand. It pulsed slightly, almost as if it were alive.
The blood core was red, and it glistened like a gemstone. It emitted a faint glow with an endless, mysterious energy.
"Do you think something happened to him?" Her worry was etched deeply in her gaze as she looked at Jaric.
Though she had just gotten to know Sebastian, the trials they had faced together had forged a strong bond between them.
"Princess Delaney, Mr. Wilder is the Chosen One. Don't worry. He'll be fine," he reassured her. But even as he spoke, doubt gnawed at him.
According to the prophecy, only those who retrieved the magical artifact inside the valley could be considered the Chosen One. Sebastian had entered, but whether he could get the artifact remained uncertain.
Just then, a frantic Novaks member sprinted over. "Mr. Novak, we've got a serious problem. The energy in the spiritual stones is nearly depleted, and the Milton family is preparing to attack."
