Remorse After Breaking Up (Sebastian) novel Chapter 1227

"Holy Maiden, you must seek justice for me!" Ophelia ran toward Asriel with a pitiful expression.

"What happened? What's wrong with your face? Who'd dare strike you?" Asriel's face darkened with anger.

"It was that scum who hit me!" Ophelia pointed at Sebastian while clenching her teeth in rage. "Holy Maiden, it's not just an attack on me; it's an insult to you! You absolutely cannot let him off lightly!"

Asriel turned her gaze to Sebastian. "Mr. Wilder, I expect a reasonable explanation from you."

"Let's have everyone else leave first," Sebastian said with a meaningful tone. "The fewer people who know the reason, the better."

"All of you, leave," Asriel instructed the steward and the others. After they exited, she turned back to Sebastian. "Now it's just us. Speak."

"She threatened me as soon as I saw her, saying I wasn't allowed to win against you today, or she'd kill me. She even called me miserable. Shouldn't I have retaliated?" Sebastian said indignantly.

"You're lying! I never said that! Holy Maiden, don't believe his nonsense!" Ophelia exclaimed somewhat fearfully.

Asriel's gaze sharpened as she stared at Ophelia. "I'll ask you this once. Is what he said true?"

"It's not... it's true," Ophelia stammered. She initially intended to lie, but her confidence wavered under Asriel's piercing glare.

"Holy Maiden, I only acted on my own initiative because I was worried you might lose," Ophelia admitted, her voice laced with fear. "But regardless of my intentions, I'm still your person. He slapped me, which clearly shows he doesn't respect you!"

"Kneel over there. If this happens again, I won't let you off lightly!" Asriel's voice was stern.

"Yes." Ophelia bit her lip, shooting a hateful glare at Sebastian before moving to the side and kneeling.

Asriel turned to Sebastian. "Ophelia shouldn't have threatened you, nor should she have insulted you. I apologize on her behalf. However, she was right about one thing—slapping her was as good as showing disrespect toward me."

Sebastian smirked sarcastically. "She threatened and insulted me, so I gave her a slap as punishment. If you think that's too much, then there's no need for today's stone betting to proceed."

"Well then, how do you want to play today?" Sebastian inquired.

Asriel explained, "There are only about 30 rough stones here, but each one is top-tier, handpicked from the best. Their prices range from 10 to 30 million spiritual stones. We'll each select one stone, and one round will decide the winner."

"No problem. Though, it does seem a little quiet here," Sebastian noted.

Asriel smiled. "This place is closed to the public today. It's just the two of us betting here."

Sebastian silently mused, "If she loses, would she actually try to kill me?"

The possibility seemed high. After all, with no one else present, she could kill him without anyone knowing.

Asriel appeared to read his thoughts. "I know what you're worried about. Rest assured, whether I win or lose, I'll let you leave here safely. If you don't believe me, I swear it in the honor of the Gaudium Sacred Ground."
