“I found Dad!” Skyler announced, puffing out his chest with pride. “He’s with Mom right now

Just as Jason’s mood had begun to brighten, it plummeted again. His face fell, and he promp handed the phone back to Skyler before turning away.

“That ‘dad‘ you found isn’t a good guy!”

Skyler understood–Jason still hadn’t let go of the father figure he’d built up in his mind.

“Even if you don’t want our real dad, you can’t just pick some random creepy guy! That man shady—all he does is lurk around bothering Mom!”

Feeling helpless, Skyler put on an offended act and turned as if to go.

Skyler assumed Jason had finally come around and patted his little brother’s shoulder proudly.
