Chapter 216 Mom’s Anger
Chapter 216 Mom’s Anger
While Xavier was distracted by the pain, she slipped out of his grip.
“Xavier, you’re unbelievable.”
Isabella’s face was flushed. She let out a sharp, humorless laugh before striding out of the room.
What he’d just said made her blood boil.
She still loved him?
How could he be so arrogant?
Wasn’t he the one who kept coming back, who wouldn’t leave her alone?

Right. And how could she ever have hoped for anything from someone like him–someone she wasn’t even sure had a heart?
That one sentence from Xavier snapped her back to reality.

For all she knew, he was only pursuing her again because he remembered how pathetically hung up on him she used to be.
Isabella yanked the door open. Even Skyler, who had been throwing a fit in the hallway while the nanny tried to calm him down, froze at the fierce energy she brought with her.
The staff exchanged quick glances, a silent conversation passing between them.
Weren’t things just fine in there? Did they have another fight?
Looks like it… Seems Mr. Moore upset Mrs. Moore again.
Isabella’s chest rose and fell heavily. She took a few steadying breaths, then forced a smile and reached for Skyler’s hand.
“What was all that about in there?”
Skyler didn’t know why, but he felt a chill run down his spine.
It was the first time he’d ever thought his mom looked kind of scary.
“That’s just how he and I work through disagreements.”
Xavier’s voice came from behind her.
He had followed her out, sounding as casual as if nothing had happened.

The method Xavier meant was beating Skyler at video games. He’d had Jacob set up a bunch of new gaming gear in his study for exactly that purpose.
It wasn’t shouting or punishment–it sparked the kid’s competitive streak, gave him something to strive for, and taught him how to lose gracefully.
“An interesting approach,” one of the specialists chimed in, seizing the chance to score points. “Mr. Moore must be incredibly busy, yet he still makes time to game with his son. That’s real dedication…”

He trailed off as Isabella shot him an icy stare.

Given how Xavier had been acting toward Isabella all day, the specialists had already figured that behind that cool exterior, he was pretty much wrapped around her finger.
So the one they really shouldn’t cross was Isabella.
“What’s so great about using games to settle things?” Isabella fired back, her anger stilt directed at Xavier. She’d been simmering ever since he pulled her son away earlier. “It doesn’t teach reasoning–it just risks making a kid more hooked on screens.”
Had she really given him the wrong idea so many times that he thought he could just do whatever he pleased?
The specialists cleared their throats awkwardly, glanced at each other, and then nodded a bit too eagerly, giving Isabella supportive thumbs–ups.
“Mrs. Moore raises an excellent point. While the method can be effective in moderation, we wouldn’t recommend relying on it regularly.”
As soon as the words were out, Xavier let out a deliberate, low cough.

They hastily added, “But Jason is at an age where social engagement is crucial. More father–son interaction could really help him come out of his shell.”
“You hear that?” Xavier said coolly, stepping up beside Isabella. His tone held a clear edge of challenge. “When it comes to raising Jason, it’s better if I take the lead.”
“Hand him over to you? So you can turn out another man like yourself?” Isabella shot back without hesitation, her voice just as sharp. “No, thank you. I’d rather not unleash that on the world.”
Xavier had the nerve to criticize her parenting? What a joke.
“Better to unleash that on the world,” Xavier replied calmly, almost indifferently, “than to let the world walk all over you.”
“In that case,” Isabella said, glaring at him, “there’s no point in continuing these sessions. I don’t see how someone as arrogant as you could possibly help my son.”
In her current mood, even the nervous specialists felt the heat of her anger.
“Well…”

Both of them were equally fired up, neither willing to yield. The specialists had no idea what to say or whose side to take.
Isabella didn’t give them time to figure it out. She took Skyler’s hand and walked away.
Back in the room, Skyler saw how upset his mom looked and felt a pang of guilt.
Maybe he shouldn’t have been so difficult with Dad earlier.
