At this point, he was still putting on an act. Isabella felt her anger flare even hotter, yet the harder she struggled, the more control he seemed to gain over her.
Before long, there was no space left between them at all, and half of Isabella’s face was pressed firmly against Xavier’s chest.
“Xavier, you bastard! I hate you!”
Consumed by rage, she opened her mouth and bit down hard on his skin just below his collarbone.
After all, they had once been husband and wife. She had cared for him so deeply, treated him with so much kindness–how could he plot against her like this?
Worse still, he had dragged her beloved little boy into his schemes.
She felt like an absolutely terrible mother.
Xavier let out a low grunt of pain. He lifted one hand to curl his fingers around the back of her
lost your mind? Biting neck, and warned her in a rough, strained voice, “Isabella, have you people over every little thing?”
The faint marks left by her earlier bites were still visible on his skin.
The sudden, chaotic scuffle between the two left Jacob and everyone else standing nearby completely frozen in shock.
Jacob, in particular, was stunned. He had always known Isabella meant something special to Xavier, but he never could have guessed she meant this much.
If it had been any other woman, not only would she never dare to confront him so openly in public, but even saying one slightly wrong word would have led to a fate far worse than she could imagine.
Yet here Xavier was, his hand wrapped around Isabella’s neck but clearly holding back from hurting her, letting her lash out and make a scene without retaliating.
The whole scene looked almost like intense, heated flirting–charged with tension and raw chemistry between them.
Noticing the curious stares from the people around them, Xavier’s eyes turned ice–cold. “What are you all looking at? You got a death wish or something?”

Everyone flinched at once, cold sweat breaking out across their foreheads. They quickly averted their gazes–some stared down at the ground, others fixed their eyes on the sky, pretending to be occupied with anything but the couple.
“I’m warning you one last time, Isabella—ah—”
Isabella could tell the man’s grip on her neck wasn’t tight, so she bit down even harder, tugging at his flesh until the pain cut Xavier off mid–sentence.
Still, the hand resting on the back of her neck never tightened with any real, harmful force.
“Hello? Were you looking for me by any chance?”
Just then, a soft, gentle female voice cut through the tense air.
When Jacob laid eyes on the woman approaching, he froze completely. She was wearing a mint–green dress, with her hair half pulled back and half falling loosely around her shoulders. From her delicate makeup to her quiet, gentle manner, she looked completely pure and innocent, as if she had never been touched by the world’s cruelty.
Her style hadn’t changed much from before.
Seeing Jacob, the woman also paused for a moment.
But someone else immediately asked her, “Are you Rachel Hale, Zoe Hale’s mother?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
Hearing this exchange, Isabella’s mind went blank, and she let go in shock.
Zoe?
Not Jason?
Xavier seized the opportunity to pull the woman off him.
The man’s expression was terrible, but he had no time to say more to her. He just shot Isabella a warning glare.
He still hadn’t let go of Isabella’s hand. As Xavier walked toward Rachel, he kept her tightly by his side.
“Are you Aletta?”
Xavier got straight to the point, addressing the woman before him.

Isabella looked at the man’s profile in confusion. Xavier seemed serious.
Did he… really think this woman was Aletta?
Had they… found the wrong person?
Recalling her earlier actions, Isabella’s face flushed several shades redder.

Just then, the classroom door opened, and an unfamiliar little girl was led over by Xavier’s
men.
Rachel crouched down, and the little girl immediately rushed into her arms.
After speaking privately with the little girl for a moment, Rachel handed her back to Xavier’s men, who took her back into the classroom.
Rachel stood up again and smiled gracefully at Xavier. Just as Isabella thought the woman was about to clarify the misunderstanding, her words left Isabella even more bewildered.
“Mr. Moore, I heard about what you wanted to discuss with me. Would it be convenient to talk somewhere privately?”
Was she… admitting it?
“Sure.”
“Wait a minute.”
Isabella spoke almost at the same time as Xavier.
The man’s gaze toward her was full of caution and warning.
She glanced at Xavier and mustered the courage to address Rachel. “Ms. Hale, are you really Aletta who can treat blood–related terminal illnesses?”
Isabella described it again in detail.
Just in case the woman’s name was Aletta and she was a doctor in the field–it would be bad if there was a misunderstanding.
