“As long as I can get a sample of his blood and compare it to my DNA, then I’ll know for sure!”
As soon as Skyler finished speaking, Jason came back carrying a big sketchbook.
Inside was a black–and–white drawing Jason had done himself.
It showed an incredibly handsome man, though the angles of his face and the details of his features all carried a hint of coldness.
As if he was trying to one–up Skyler, Jason set the sketchbook down firmly on the floor in front of him.
Skyler paused and looked at the man in the drawing.
That face…
Maybe it was because he had seen so many of Jason’s drawings before, but it looked familiar.
That wasn’t what mattered right now, though. What mattered was that Jason had grabbed another pencil, leaned over the drawing, and carefully wrote a word. “Dad.”
Jason picked up the sketchbook and held it out to Skyler.
Skyler took it reluctantly, his heart aching as he looked at his brother.
Jason must have really missed their dad if he was treating a drawing like this as their father.
Skyler set the sketchbook aside again and took Jason’s hand. “Jason, don’t worry. I’m going to find a real dad for you, I promise.”
Hearing that, the usually sweet, easygoing Jason got upset.
He pulled his hand out of Skyler’s grip, hugged the sketchbook, and turned his back to him.
Skyler froze for a second, then it clicked. “Wait… are you saying you already found our dad too?”
That calmed Jason down. He nodded at Skyler and happily rubbed his cheek against the drawing.
But Skyler looked skeptical. “You probably just saw some good–looking guy again. How many times have I told you? Finding Dad takes science and evidence!”

Jason puffed out his chest and held the drawing up, facing Skyler like he was ready to argue.
Skyler huffed. “Fine. I’m done talking. I’m going to go find Dad!”
As soon as Skyler left, Jason rushed to the door and slammed it shut, then even stuck his tongue out at it.
From a sweet reunion to a full–on fight in less than ten minutes–those two managed it easily.

Half an hour later, in a private dining room at an exclusive members–only restaurant, Xavier was feeding Isabella a large piece of braised pork.
Even though the room was spacious, Rachel sat alone on the other side of the table while Xavier and Isabella were squeezed together.
Xavier’s tie was high quality–Isabella had been trying to free her hand the whole time, but it had not loosened at all.
On top of that, her right hand was tied to his left.
She could not use her fork.
So Xavier had naturally taken over feeding her. From the moment the meal started, he had been taking a bite for himself and then giving her one.
Isabella did not want to go along with it and kept insisting she was not hungry, but the more she resisted, the more Xavier pushed. He would taste something, then offer her a piece.
If she turned it down, he would try something else a little later.
If she still refused, he would tease her about not needing to diet.
Diet? That just made Isabella angrier. Her body was great–where exactly was she fat? And he kept bringing it up!
Anyone else would have been too embarrassed to know what to do in that situation.
But Rachel across the table acted like nothing was out of the ordinary. She ate her meal gracefully and kept up a relaxed conversation with Xavier.
She talked about her medical career and what she was doing with her life now.
Isabella avoided the piece of pork Xavier was offering her and shot him an annoyed look. “I

“Okay.” Xavier smiled, completely unbothered. He put the meat back on his plate and carefully trimmed off the fat with his fork.
Just like Isabella had once done for him, he was meticulous and patient.
He offered her another bite–just a small, lean piece.
With no other choice, Isabella ate it.
It actually tasted pretty good.
“Mr. Moore really knows how to treat someone,” Rachel said with a small smile. “Even back in my honeymoon phase, I never got this kind of treatment.”
“Then focus on your career instead of relationships.”
Xavier did not look at Rachel as he gently dabbed the corner of Isabella’s mouth with a napkin.
“If you can cure Noah’s condition, name your price.”
