Revenge amnesia upgraded to his brother novel Chapter 180

Chapter 180

When the fire died down, I was wrecked.

Totally spent.

I felt like a rag doll in his arms.

Lucien didn’t let go. He held me tight, planting kiss after kiss on my forehead, in my hair.

I crashed out hard after that.

When I woke up, sun was blasting through the huge windows, painting the floor gold.

Lucien was already up, lying on his side, head propped on his hand, just staring at me.

His eyes were soft. Warm. Satisfied as hell.

Awake? His voice was rough from sleep. And other things.

I nodded. My fingers traced the line of his jaw. I felt his chest rise and fall under my hand. Steady. For a second, I felt a peace I hadn’t known in years.

He smiled.

Then he ducked his head. Like I was some kind of goddess, he started kissing me again.

His mouth was hot. It trailed from my collarbone, down over my chest, and kept going south.

Every kiss burned. It was serious. Like he cherished me. It made my throat feel tight.

Then his lips hit my lower belly, and he stopped.

His fingers touched the skin there. He rubbed it gently. A few thin, silvery lines were etched into it.

What’s this?Lucien frowned, looking up. His deep eyes were full of confusion.

All the sleepiness vanished from my body.

I yanked the sheets up to hide. It’s nothing,I said, my voice thin and panicked.

How could he even see them? Those marks were practically invisible!

Let me see.He pulled the covers back down. His thumb stroked the faint lines again. Norah. Talk to me. What caused this? Was it surgery? When?

The faces of Leo and Luna flashed in my head. They looked so much like him.

I can’t tell him.

No way in hell I can tell him!

I couldn’t drag Leo and Luna into his fucking endless family wars and dirty schemes.

I looked away, speaking softly. Three years ago. Right after I got to Washington. Acute appendicitis. Just a minor surgery.”

Appendicitis? In Washington? By yourself? He stared at me, disbelief all over his face. His voice shook. You were completely alone? What went through your head when you signed those papers? Weren’t you scared, Norah? Did you hate me? For not being there?

It’s in the past, Lucien.

The hell it is!He shot up, pulling me hard against his chest.

Thinking of you there alone, under those cold lights, with those stranger doctorsit makes me want to find the man I was back then and break his neck!

His voice was raw with pain, rough with regret. Why didn’t you call me? Why not even a fucking phone call?

You must have been so scared. All alone in that hospital.

I leaned my head on his chest. His heart was hammering. My own heart felt stuck. Sour. Tight.

The lie worked. For now.

It’s okay,” I whispered, patting his back.

He just held me tighter.

Norah, I’m sorry. I swear to God, I’ll never let you face anything alone again. Never.”

The next few days were like a stolen dream. Like the good old days, all sunshine and heat.

We tried making breakfast in the big kitchen. He was a disaster. Knocked over the milk. Burned the eggs. Ended up just leaning against the counter, watching me with a helpless smile as I made food for both of us.

He stuck to me like a big, overgrown puppy. My own personal shadow.

When I sat down to practice with the fabric scissors, he didn’t try to stop me. He just brought me water and watched.

But I only managed to cut a tiny piece before my right hand started shaking. The blades wavered, way too close to slicing the expensive silk.

Lucien didn’t say a word. He just took the scissors from my hand. Then he took my hand in his.

His big, warm palm swallowed my cold one whole. Then, with total focus, he started to massage it.

His touch was gentle but firm. He worked the stiffness from my wrist, rubbed over the old scar on my palm, kneaded each finger that was tight from the strain.

He took his time, working out every single knot.

Watching this powerful man tend to my hand so carefullysomething hard in my heart just melted. Again.

After a long time, he finally looked up. Better?

I nodded.

Try again.” He gave the scissors back. This time, he didn’t let go. He wrapped his arms around me from behind, his big hand covering mine completely. I’ll help you hold it steady.

With the solid thump of his heart against my back, some strength seemed to flow back into my hand.

That night, we were curled up on the sofa watching some old romance movie.

He held me close, his chin on my head, his warm breath on my car.

On screen, the hero and heroine were locked in a desperate, hungry kiss.

His hands started moving. Kneading my waist. My hips.

NorahHe lowered his head, his mouth finding my neck.

A shiver racked my body. I went soft against him.

Right then, my phone screamed on the table.

Who the hell is that?Annoyance flashed in Lucien’s eyes.

My phone lit up on the coffee table. The name was stark and clear:

[Teo]

I saw Lucien’s face go cold. Hard as stone.

I snatched the phone. Ignoring the question in his eyes, I stood up and hurried to the bathroom, locking the door.

Mateo? What is it?I kept my voice low.

Nono,Mateo’s voice was tight, panicked. It’s LeoHehe fell from the tree in the garden. He’s in the ER
