"It wasn't me who angered him. He already had a problem with me!" Queena said with a dark expression.
George was surprised. "Why on earth would Mr. Harrison Lancaster have a problem with you?"
"Why?" Queena sneered. "It must be the handiwork of my dear sister! You've met Anastasia before. Don't you know what kind of person she is?"
"She probably heard about my achievements in Riverton and was afraid I would threaten her position if I won Mr. Harrison Lancaster's favor, so she did everything she could to slander me in front of him!"
At the mention of Anastasia, George immediately said, "I don't know why she's taking so long, but she should be out soon. You should get ready. Mr. Brown will surely want to see you next."
Mentioning this, Queena's expression finally softened a little. She smiled faintly. "Getting my hands on three of Mr. Brown's prescriptions today would be a fine reward."
"Exactly. And if you perform well, you might even be able to forge a connection with Mr. Brown."
"I'll do my best."
As they were talking, Anastasia came into view.
Anastasia didn't notice them. Accompanied by Logan, she was walking back towards Harrison.
"She's out! Mr. Brown will probably call for you now."
The two of them waited with absolute certainty.
However, after a while, no one came with a message.
An unsettling feeling began to creep into Queena's heart. Why wasn't Mr. Brown summoning her? Could it be that Anastasia had successfully completed the prescription... No! Impossible!
"But the more I thought about it, the more I felt I couldn't let it go. With the condition you set, she couldn't take the prescription no matter how much money she spent. And I truly don't want to give up, so I came to you, shamelessly hoping you might give me a chance."
When Queena said he should know her name, Aubrey's brow had already furrowed slightly.
He did know of Queena. While she wasn't necessarily the best of the new generation, she was very good at networking, which made her more famous than others. How could he not know of this "genius"?
But for a junior to be so arrogant in front of a senior like him?
Already displeased, he then heard Queena's subsequent words subtly disparaging Anastasia, and he let out a cold, dismissive snort.
"You're not her, so how do you know she doesn't have the ability to get the prescription?"
Queena froze for a moment, then said, "You might laugh, sir, but she's actually my stepsister. I know her better than anyone. She's been a good-for-nothing her whole life. To say she could complete the prescription would be a fairy tale!"
