At the Lancaster estate.
The moment Anastasia heard Harrison return, she ran happily down the stairs.
“You’re back!”
Harrison reached out and caught her. “What was so urgent?”
“Nothing, really…” Anastasia denied it instinctively, but after looking up at him, she couldn’t hold back. “Where were you just now?”
Sensing the probing in her tone, Harrison paused, gently kneading her small, pale earlobe. “What do you want to ask?”
Anastasia hesitated. “...I heard Ms. Lawson is back. Since you were childhood sweethearts, you must have gone to see her, right?”
She feigned nonchalance, but her words were tinged with jealousy.
“Who told you that?”
Anastasia’s cheeks puffed out. “Just tell me if it’s true or not!”
“It’s true she’s back, but the childhood sweetheart part is a lie.” Harrison’s eyes held a flicker of displeasure. “Who’s been filling your head with this nonsense?”
“I told you before, I know her, but we’re not close. You believe all that ridiculous gossip from others but forget what I told you?”
He cupped her chin, tilting her face up to his, his tone slightly dangerous.
Back in Fairhaven, he had assured her that he and Naomi weren't close. Of course, Anastasia believed him, but a small part of her couldn't help but have doubts.
“Really? Then why does everyone outside say... that if it weren't for me, you would have married Naomi?”
“Everyone outside? Who?”
