Lilian’s eyes sparkled with a smile. “I have to admit, Janus is a rare talent in business. He’s fast, precise, and knows exactly how to read a situation and win people over. “Oh?” Sebastian stopped what he was doing and set his files aside. He snatched the newspaper out of her hands and leaned in. “Lilian, do you think it’s appropriate to stand here and praise another man to your fiancé’s face?”

Lilian looked at how serious he was and burst out laughing. “Sebastian, you’re such a tyrant. My grandfather and my master are men. Do you have a problem with them too?”

Sebastian reached out and pulled her onto his lap. He tilted her chin up, his gaze intense. “If I could, I’d make sure I was the only person in your world.”

Lilian was startled by the look in his eyes. Just as their gazes locked, someone cleared their throat nearby.

Sebastian snapped back to reality and looked over, his tone icy. “What is it?”

“Sir,” Foster reported. “The bank wants to know if they should release the funds now.”

‘Release them,” Sebastian said coldly. “Now that Janus has the position, there’s no reason to keep Soren Group’s cash flow ‘rozen.”

‘Onderstood,” Foster said before heading out.

Lilian looked at him, confused. “What did you mean by that?”

Sebastian smirked with pure mockery. “Nothing. Just a little scheme to force Robert to step down.”

Lilian saw his devious expression and thought back to the morning’s news. It clicked instantly. “No wonder. I was wondering why Robert gave up his power so easily. It turns out you were the one pulling the strings the whole time.”

Sebastian tapped her forehead, his smile turning affectionate. “You ungrateful little brat. I did all of this for you, Janus called me yesterday and said Robert was obsessed with that land. With the resources he had, he eventually would have dug himself out of his hole. If he’d managed to fix the crisis, he would have come after you again. To end that trouble for good, I cut off his access to capital.”
