Renee’s phone started ringing. She put the container back, took off her gloves, and checked the caller ID before answering “What is it?”

“Mom, how is the experiment coming along?” Jane asked.

“It’s a success,” Renee said. “I’m basically at the finish line. How are things on your end? Is Triny behaving herself?”

Jane laughed. “Don’t worry. She’s finally accepted her new face and she’s working hard on her lessons.”

“Good,” Renee said. “As long as she cooperates. I was ready to just turn her into a puppet if she fought me. It would have been less of a headache.”

“That would’ve been boring,” Jane said. “A woman will do anything once you trigger her jealousy.”

Renee thought for a moment. “In that case, send her back to Dracovia.”

“Back home?” Jane asked. “If people spot her now, won’t it ruin the plan? Her face looks like that woman’s now, but her mannerisms are still all wrong. People will see right through her.”

Renee sneered. “The face is enough. Besides, she needs to be there in person. Only by watching the man she loves dote on someone else will she truly go insane with jealousy.”

‘But Sebastian will know it’s not Lilian the second he sees her,” Jane argued. “How is she supposed to replace her if he doesn’t love

ner?”

‘Love?” Renee’s smile turned dark. “I never got to have that, so why should she? You really think I’m sending her there to get his ove? She’s just a pawn. Once she does her job, she’s useless. I’m not making her life easy. I’m going after everyone who ever hurt ne, including the Lindt family.”

Triny froze. “We can go back now?”

home to care.

Back in the basement, Renee looked at the blue liquid in the container. “Derrick, it’s time for you to come home too. I’ve waited so ong for this day. I’m going to make you and that bitch Uriel suffer.”
