The guard wiped the grin off his face and shot Lilian a taunting look before roughly shoving the doors open.

As the group walked inside Lilian was momentarily stunned by the scene. Morgan and Henry were hanging from the center of the cavernous warehouse. Their clothes were torn and their faces were deathly pale.
A pool of fresh blood sat directly beneath Morgan. Beth was tied to a nearby chair looking equally battered,
Henry’s eyes lit up with desperate hope when he saw Lilian. “Lilian! Are you here to save us? Hurry save your grandfather! He is hurt and he has lost so much blood. Get us out of here!”
“Yes Lilian save us! I cannot take it anymore!” Beth wailed.
“Shut up!” Morgan barked his voice weak but sharp. He turned his gaze toward the girl. “Lilian get out of here. Forget about us. These men are killers. They only took us to get to you. Go now! Do you hear me?”
Henry stared at Morgan in disbelief. “Dad are you trying to get us killed? They only grabbed us because of her! We are innocent victims in this mess! Why should we suffer for her?”
Morgan looked at Henry with pure disappointment. “She is your daughter. Have you not already cost her enough?”
Lilian looked at them coldly. “Save your energy. Since you were dragged into this because of me I will get you out regardless of whether we are family or not. I refuse to carry the guilt of your deaths on my conscience.”
“How touching.”
A door on the second floor creaked open and a group of men stepped out. The leader clapped as he looked down at her. “I did not expect you to be so loyal. I thought for sure you would leave them to rot but here you are. Not bad. If we were not on opposite sides I would actually want to be your friend. But unfortunately orders are orders. Nothing personal.”
Lilian watched the men descend the stairs. Every one of them moved with the disciplined gait of a trained fighter. She could tell there were more of them hiding on the second floor. Whoever was behind this had spared no expense to take her down.
“Cut the small talk. Your boss went to a lot of trouble to set this up. What do you want? I prefer to keep things simple so state your business and stop wasting everyone’s time.”
