Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 1123

Looking at the girl's unwavering gaze, Eric spoke with a voice heavy with grief. "But have you ever thought about Grandpa? If he knew about your decision, do you have any idea how devastated he would be? He went through so much to finally find you. Are you really going to make him face the risk of losing you all over again? He has already lost his daughter. Must he lose his granddaughter too?"

Lilian lowered her head slightly, tears streaming down her face and splashing onto the ground. "I don't have a choice," she said, her voice laced with profound sorrow. "I really have no other choice. I have tried every single possible way. If there were any other option, I wouldn't want to take this step either. But he is the man I love. I cannot just stand by and watch something happen to him. Besides, for all these years, he was always the one protecting me. This time, it's my turn to save him."

"Even at the cost of your own life? Have you ever thought that when he wakes up and finds out the truth, it might make him wish he were dead instead?" Eric said, his heart aching.

"Even so, I still have to save him. At least he will be alive. As long as he lives, that is all that matters," Lilian replied, her raspy voice tinged with desolation as a gentle breeze scattered her words into the air.

Seeing the girl's grief-stricken state, Eric took a step forward and pulled her into his arms. His heavy voice was filled with helplessness as he said, "You silly girl, how can you be so foolish? Is he truly worth you sacrificing everything for him like this?"

Lilian's bright eyes were filled with sadness, and tears continued to track down her cheeks. "He is worth it. He is the safest harbor I have ever depended on in my life. He was the one who gave me a home. Without him, I wouldn't have a home anymore."

Lilian's expression turned lonely and bleak. "Of course I know he would wait for me. But it is precisely because I know he would that I cannot stay by his side. I don't know exactly when I will wake up. What if it takes ten years, or even twenty years? Am I supposed to make him wait for me indefinitely? I don't want to be that selfish, nor do I want him to live day after day bouncing between hope and despair. That kind of feeling is worse than death. That is why I would rather have him believe I am dead."

Eric let out a long, heavy sigh. "Forget it. Let me play the villain then. Even if Grandpa ends up hating me, blaming me, and refusing to forgive me, I will accept it. Who asked you to be my cousin? Instead of letting you hurt yourself behind our backs, it is better for me to handle it myself. At least this way, I can look after you."
