Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 153

Chapter 153: Breakthrough

At the stroke of noon, Lillian found herself seated alongside her close friends in the bustling school cafeteria. Jill was absorbed in her phone, her lips curling into a mischievous grin as she read something aloud. “This new girl, Eda, really seems to be something special. Lillian, looks like you finally have a worthy rival,” she teased, her voice light but filled with intrigue.

Lillian took a delicate bite of a rib, savoring the flavor slowly before nodding thoughtfully. “Mm, she definitely has talent. I caught a glimpse of it this morning,” she admitted, a hint of respect in her tone.

Natalie, still focused on her meal, snorted with amusement. “Jill, you didn’t see her performance. That woman carried this almost saintly aura, like she was the only genuinely kind and generous person around, and everyone else was just petty and narrow-minded. You should’ve been there—Lillian tore her down so thoroughly she couldn’t even get a word in.”

Jill chuckled at their banter. “Well, whatever really happened, the whole school’s buzzing about it. They say you two argued over who should be crowned the school belle.”

Natalie nearly dropped her chopsticks, eyes wide with disbelief. “What? People are actually spreading that? That’s nowhere near the truth!”

She was about to launch into a passionate defense, but Lillian raised a hand gently to halt her. “Enough. Rumors twist and turn depending on who tells them. Let’s not waste our energy on gossip. Change the subject—this conversation ends here.”

Jill nodded in agreement. “You’re right. So, moving on—the school festival is coming up soon. Are you guys performing?”

“Of course!” Natalie said with a confident toss of her head, a proud smirk playing on her lips. “With my dancing skills, there’s no way I’d miss the chance to be on stage.”

Lillian smiled warmly. “You’re really talented at dancing. It’d be a shame if you didn’t participate.”

Natalie’s grin widened. “See? I’m talented too!”

Jill sighed, amused by Natalie’s self-satisfaction, then turned to Lillian. “What about you? Are you joining in? I know you have hidden talents.”

“I’m not,” Lillian answered simply. “I don’t have the time.”

Her responsibilities still weighed heavily on her. Although the company affairs were mostly stable, her cultivation progress had been stagnant since returning from abroad. To reach the ninth level soon, she needed to focus all her energy.

Jill wasn’t surprised and gave a knowing nod. “I figured as much. You’ve never been interested in those things anyway. I’ve noticed—at school, only classes and exams truly matter to you. Nothing else ever seems to catch your attention.”

After lunch, the school’s rhythm quickly returned to normal, the earlier gossip fading into the background.

That evening, back at the serene Golden Coast estate, Lillian stepped into her inner space. Two small creatures immediately bounded toward her, their eyes wide and filled with a touch of hurt.

Amused by their pitiful expressions, Lillian bent down to meet their gaze. “Alright, alright, don’t look at me like that. I’ve been busy lately, but starting now, I promise I’ll visit you every day.”

Blue and the little fox exchanged a serious glance before straightening their postures. “Fine. You sound sincere, so we’ll forgive you this time.”
