Chapter 254: Mr. Geo’s Invitation

In a dimly lit corner of the bustling bar, Eda sat hunched over, her body slumped as she drained one glass after another. The amber liquid burned down her throat, but it did little to dull the ache inside. Tears traced silent paths down her cheeks, mixing with the faint glow of neon lights. Clutching the arm of the woman beside her, she poured out her anguish in a trembling voice. “Ermmm… my dad actually hit me. He hit me! After all these years, he never once stood by me, and now—not only does he ignore me, he even curses at me.”

The woman sitting next to her, poised and elegant, regarded Eda’s tear-streaked face with a soft, almost pitying gaze. “Your dad only wants what’s best for you,” she murmured gently. “He’s just been blinded by Lillian. You have to try to understand where he’s coming from.”

If Lillian had been there, she would have immediately recognized the woman—Olivia—the same woman she had already taught a harsh lesson to once before. Since that incident, Olivia hadn’t dared to confront Lillian directly; she knew too well the leverage Lillian held over her. Instead, Olivia had resorted to subtly encouraging Eda, hoping to push Lillian out of Riverdale High School by proxy.

But Eda had proven to be quite the disappointment. Not only was she repeatedly crushed by Lillian at every turn, but she was also utterly ineffective. The thought deepened Olivia’s bitterness.

Eda’s sobs grew louder, her voice cracking as she blurted out, “That wretched girl… it’s all because of her. If she hadn’t been there, my dad would never have hit me. Because of her, Daylen won’t even glance my way. It’s all her fault. I, Eda, will never live under the same sky as her.”

Olivia shot her a look filled with disdain, though her tone remained calm and soothing. “Don’t cry. That girl is always like this—she loves stealing other people’s boyfriends. With her around, there’s no chance Daylen will ever see your worth.”

“Yes… if she didn’t exist, Daylen would finally see how good I am,” Eda whispered, her eyes glazing over as they fixed on the bottle in her hand. A strange, unsettling smile crept across her lips, twisting her expression into something almost feral.

After the birthday banquet, Geo had called, asking to meet.

The following morning, Lillian requested leave from Principal Lee, who granted it without hesitation, only reminding her to be punctual for the upcoming English competition. Since the event was to be held in Kingston, Lillian packed her belongings carefully, stowed everything in her room, slung a small bag over her shoulder, and made her way to the airport.

As soon as she stepped outside the terminal, a sleek red sports car screeched to a halt right in front of her. The door swung open, and a tall woman clad in tight leather stepped out. The outfit hugged every curve of her stunning figure, and she flashed a playful grin at the surprised look on Lillian’s face. “What? Don’t recognize me?”

Lillian’s eyes finally focused on the woman’s face, and she let out a helpless laugh. “Ms. Ashley. It’s been a long time.”
