Chapter 273: Noreen’s Jealousy
Manny shot a quick glance at Noreen, a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “You can’t really blame him,” he said lightly. “Sebastian’s got Lillian now, so of course things aren’t like they used to be. As his friends, we should be happy for him.”
Noreen forced a faint smile in return, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Yeah…” she murmured, her voice tinged with a subtle unease.
Suddenly, Cameron’s voice broke through the quiet. “Hey—Sebastian’s car!” he called out sharply.
Noreen’s head snapped around immediately, her eyes narrowing as she caught sight of the approaching vehicle.
Fawks ended his phone call and turned toward the sleek Rolls-Royce rolling closer. His tone dropped to a low, almost reverent whisper. “That’s him.”
The luxurious car came to a smooth halt right in front of them. Foster was quick to step out and open the door, and Sebastian followed, stepping onto the pavement with his usual confident poise.
“Sebastian, you’re more than half an hour late today,” Cameron teased with a grin, nudging the air with a playful jab.
Manny elbowed Cameron lightly, smirking. “Big mouth. Honestly, it’s a miracle Sebastian showed up this early at all. Didn’t you see who he was with last night?”
Cameron’s eyes widened as realization dawned on him, and he covered his mouth to stifle a laugh. “Oh, right, right—I totally forgot.”
Noreen’s gaze flicked around the group, then she asked casually, trying to sound nonchalant, “By the way, Sebastian, where’s Lillian?”
“Yeah, didn’t we all agree you had to bring her along?” Fawks added, his brow furrowed in genuine confusion.
Sebastian glanced back toward the car, his deep voice softening with a rare tenderness. “She was exhausted last night. Still asleep in the car.”
He had stayed with her until three in the morning, waiting patiently for her to finish work. By now, he understood just how much she pushed herself—harder than even he did. If he hadn’t shown up yesterday, she probably would have forgotten to eat all day.
But while these words felt normal to him, to the others they hinted at something more.
Manny and Cameron exchanged a knowing look, their eyebrows arching in silent agreement. “Well, well, sounds like we just caught a little scandal,” Manny teased, wagging his brows dramatically.
“Sebastian’s flaunting that couple vibe everywhere he goes,” he added with a wink.
