Chapter 278: The Gamble

After they finished their dinner, Cameron suddenly suggested, “How about I take everyone to a little mysterious spot I know?” With no other plans for the evening, the group readily agreed, curiosity piqued.

When the elevator doors slid open on the hotel’s top floor, they were immediately greeted by a dazzling spectacle of gold and glittering lights that seemed to shimmer from every corner.

This place was a stark contrast to the rest of the resort, which had been elegant and understated. Here, extravagance reigned supreme—every detail screamed indulgence and excess, as if the entire space was designed to overwhelm the senses.

Cameron’s grin was wide and confident. “Well? What do you think? This is hands down the most exciting place in the whole resort. Surprised? Impressed?”

Sebastian glanced at Lillian, noticing the wide-eyed wonder sparkling in her gaze. “Never been to a place like this before?” he asked softly.

Lillian shook her head, a small smile tugging at her lips. “No, this is my first time. I didn’t even know the resort had something like this hidden away.”

In truth, across two lifetimes, this was genuinely her first experience in a place like this, and everything felt fresh and unfamiliar—both thrilling and a little overwhelming.

Sebastian slipped his arm around her shoulders, a faint, affectionate smile playing on his lips. “Cameron might not have many talents, but when it comes to knowing Kingston’s best spots, he’s basically a walking encyclopedia.”

Lillian nodded in agreement, impressed by how effortlessly Cameron seemed to navigate this world. Within their little group, he was definitely the one who played the hardest—and played the best.

They moved further inside, swallowed by a cacophony of sounds—laughter, shouts, the clinking of chips, and the murmur of intense concentration. Every table was packed with people; some were visibly nervous, beads of sweat forming on their foreheads, while others lounged with casual confidence. Men leaned into their companions, sharing jokes and laughter. The room was a vibrant mosaic of emotions and energy.

Cameron, clearly at home here, made a beeline for the dealer’s table to exchange his chips, with Manny and Fawks trailing close behind.

Sebastian caught the flicker of curiosity in Lillian’s eyes and smiled warmly, his voice gentle. “Want to give it a try? Play a hand or two?”

Her face lit up instantly. “Absolutely.”
