Chapter 426 Work Assignments
Wayne nodded in agreement; after all, he had heard bits and pieces about Layla’s past.
“By the way, where are you planning to hold the press conference?” Lillian suddenly asked.
Wayne shook his head. “We haven’t decided yet. We’ve checked out a few places, but none of them seem satisfying enough. For al jewelry brand, if the very first impression doesn’t stun everyone, the road ahead gets much harder.”
Lillian thought for a long while. Then she stood and walked to the floor–to–ceiling windows. Gazing at the skyline of towering buildings, a sly glint flashed in her eyes. She smiled and said, “I know a way to draw everyone’s attention.”
Wayne walked over to join her, also looking out into the distance, his expression puzzled.
On Saturday, Lillian spent the entire day with Ryan and Wayne, discussing every detail of the Skyreach Jewels press conference, until the sky outside had darkened.
“Miss, your idea is absolutely brilliant. With this, it’ll be impossible for Skyreach Jewels not to take off,” Wayne said in awe.
Ryan nodded in agreement. “Exactly. I practically ran all over Kingston trying to find a location; my legs are about to fall off. Yet all it took was you standing at the window for a moment, and everything was solved. I guess I really am destined for hard labor.”
Layla, who had been listening nearby, laughed. “Everyone has their strengths. Ms. Harrington has to look at the big picture, but you have your own advantage. When it comes to data, I don’t think any of us can match you.”
Lillian smiled. “Yes, I completely agree with Layla. Once the press conference is over, I’ll reassign you to focus on data again. As for Skyreach Jewels, I’ve decided to hand it over to Layla.”
Layla froze, staring at Lillian in shock. “Me? Take over?”
“That’s right. You’ve been shadowing and learning at Skyreach Group for quite some time now, and everyone acknowledges your abilities. Why shouldn’t you take the lead? I believe you can handle it, Mr. Cameron,” Lillian drawled lazily.
Caught off guard, Layla glanced nervously at Ryan and Wayne. “But… Skyreach Jewels has relied on Mr. Ryan and Mr. Wayne from the very beginning; if I take over, wouldn’t that mean I’m stealing credit from the two of them?”
Lillian chuckled. “They both have plenty of other things to focus on. At the start, I only had them handle Skyreach Jewels because! hadn’t found the right person yet. But now that you’re here–and with your current capability–I think you’re more than up to the job. What’s wrong? No confidence?”
“No, that’s not it,” Layla stammered. “It’s just-”
Before she could finish, Lillian cut in. “If it’s not that, then it’s settled. Once the press conference is over, you’ll take charge.”
Ryan smiled. “Congratulations, Mr. Cameron.”
Wayne echoed warmly, “Congratulations, Mr. Cameron.”
After all, they had seen Layla’s dedication and talent firsthand; her success today made them genuinely happy for her.
Lillian rose and walked to the bookshelf. She took out a folder and handed it to Ryan. “This outlines your main tasks for the second half of the year.”
