Chapter 452 Teasing Skylar
Lillian gave a mysterious smile. “Take a guess.”
“Are you his lover?” Skylar asked.
Lillian laughed lightly. “Do I look like one to you?”
Skylar thought for a moment, then shook her head. “Not really.” After all, she looked nothing like the image of a mistress in her mind; her figure alone didn’t match.
Lillian nodded. “Exactly; how could I be his lover? Didn’t you hear me call him Mr. Whitmore?”
The girl’s evasive answer left Skylar uncertain–was she telling the truth, or not?
At that moment, the office door swung open. Foster walked in, his hands full of boxes. When his eyes landed on the woman inside, they turned cold. “Who allowed you in here?”
The moment Skylar saw Foster, she froze in panic. “I…”
“It was me who asked her to come over for a chat,” Lillian cut in smoothly. “I was bored; of course I needed something to keep myself occupied.”
Foster caught the sly glint in Lillian’s eyes, shook his head helplessly, and silently prayed for Sebastian. What kind of scheme was she planning this time?
He set the desserts down on the table. “Ms. Harrington, I wasn’t sure what kind you liked, so I bought a bit of everything. But Mr. Whitmore said you can’t eat too many; he’s worried you’ll skip meals again. So please, just have a little.”
Lillian nodded. “Mm, I got it.”
After arranging the boxes, Foster brushed past Skylar with barely a glance and left.
Lillian opened each box on the table, then looked at Skylar. “Want to try some?”
Skylar shook her head. “Sorry, I don’t eat sweets.”
Lillian shrugged indifferently and began eating at a leisurely pace.
Between bites, she asked, “What do you like about Mr. Whitmore?”
Skylar answered shyly, “Everything. From the very first moment I saw him, I liked him. That

sense of maturity and steadiness he carries–you don’t find that in the men around me.”
Lillian nodded thoughtfully. “And what if he already has a fiancée?”
Skylar’s expression faltered. After a pause, she said cautiously, “Didn’t you say even being a mistress would be worth it? I don’t expect to become Mrs. Whitmore. Even if I spend my whole life without a name or a title, as long as I can see him from time to time, I’d be content.”
Lillian lifted her gaze to the woman in front of her. Outwardly she seemed mature, but clearly her way of thinking was a little… peculiar.
“Have you ever confessed to him? Told him how
you feel?”
Skylar shook her head, looking a little defeated. “No. Someone like him–so far above us–how could I just meet him whenever I want? If I hadn’t heard today that he came in holding a girl’s hand, I probably wouldn’t have dared to come here at all.”
A sly light flickered in Lillian’s eyes. Smiling, she said, “Then I’ll give you a chance to confess; whether you grab it or not is up to you. It’s risky, sure—but if you succeed, you’ll be the envy of countless women. So… do you dare?”
