Seeing Cameron look a little dejected, Elsie teased with a laugh, “Clearly, you’re the kind of brother that comes as a free gift with a phone plan.”
“Who said that?” Cameron shot back, indignant. “Sebastian and I are real brothers. It’s just… well, he probably values love more.” His voice trailed off, lacking confidence.
Manny immediately cut him off with a scoff. “Oh, please. You can’t compare yourself to Lillian. She’s Sebastian’s everything. Ninety–nine billion on a gift–he spent it without blinking. Can you get Sebastian to buy you something like that?”
“Ninety–nine billion?!” Isabelle gasped. “What kind of gift could cost that much?”
“Land, Cameron replied flatly. “Sebastian took Lillian to an auction. Just because she said she liked it, he bid on it. As for the ninety–nine billion, Sebastian said the number had a good meaning
The group was beyond shocked. This was a world far removed from anything they could imagine.
Sitting quietly at the side, Laney listened, her eyes flashing with jealousy and resentment.
At that moment, the servants brought over drinks and little cakes. Louis smiled. “Since I wasn’t sure what flavors you ladies preferred, I had the chef prepare a bit of everything. Please, try them.”
The women hurried to thank him.
Cameron glanced upstairs, puzzled. “Strange. Why aren’t Sebastian and Lillian down yet?”
Louis chuckled. “The young lady is probably still clinging to bed. Master can’t bear to wake her, so they’re taking their time.”
“Oh, I get it.” Cameron grinned wickedly. “Lillian must like to sleep in, so she’s dragging Sebastian along with her.”
Just then, a clear voice rang out. “Cameron, I heard you slandering me from upstairs.”
The elevator doors slid open. Sebastian walked out hand in hand with Lillian, whose mischievous smile lit up her delicate face.
Stepping forward, Lillian looked a little embarrassed as she greeted them. “Sorry, I woke up late. She shot Sebastian a playful glare. “All your fault–you didn’t wake me.”
Sebastian pinched her delicate nose affectionately. “Weren’t you the one complaining I ruined your dream? Hmm?” The Elting end of his voice carried both charm and teasing warmth.
At the look of deep indulgence in his eyes, Laney’s grip on her glass tightened until her knuckles whitened, jealousy twisting her features.
“Sebastian, if you keep smothering us with this mushy display, we won’t even need lunch. Your love show. is enough to fill us up,” Cameron joked.
