Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 689

**The Billionaire’s Last Obsession series 689**
**Chapter 689: Natalie’s Transformation**

The middle-aged woman rose from her seat, her eyes puffy and red, evidence of the tears that had cascaded down her cheeks. Mathilda gazed at Lilian and Jill, her heart heavy with emotion, and uttered, “Jill, I can’t thank you and Lilian enough. If it hadn’t been for both of you, I would still be in the dark about Natalie’s suffering. It’s entirely my fault. I let my foolish pride and ego drive me away from home. I never imagined that my absence would lead to Natalie being in such a perilous state.”

Her voice cracked, and before she could finish her thought, sobs erupted from her chest, raw and unrestrained. If Theo hadn’t reached out to her, she would have remained blissfully unaware of her daughter’s dire circumstances.

Jill, sensing the weight of Mathilda’s anguish, stepped forward. She enveloped the distraught woman in a comforting embrace, gently patting her back. “It’s okay, Mathilda. The worst is behind you now. Natalie will gradually heal, I promise. Please, don’t carry this burden of guilt any longer. You didn’t abandon her on purpose, did you?”

Mathilda shook her head vehemently, her voice thick with tears. “No, it’s all on me. I should have fought tooth and nail against those women and vowed never to leave my daughter’s side. If I had just stood my ground, she wouldn’t have had to endure this nightmare. Seeing her like this makes me wish I were the one lying in that bed instead of her.”

From her place on the bed, Natalie turned her head slightly, her hand rising to brush away a stray tear that had escaped her control.

After a moment of gathering herself, Mathilda composed her emotions and quietly exited the room, leaving behind a heavy silence.

Lilian approached Natalie’s bedside, settling onto a nearby stool, her expression softening with concern. “How are you feeling today? Any discomfort?”

Natalie shook her head slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. “No, not at all. I feel surprisingly good, so much more relaxed than I have in ages. It’s as if I can finally breathe freely again.”

Lilian tenderly ran her fingers through Natalie’s hair, a gentle smile gracing her lips. “That’s wonderful to hear! It means you’re on the mend. Just give it another month of rest, and I assure you, you’ll be back to your vibrant, lively self in no time.”

A bittersweet smile crept across Natalie’s face. “Can I really return to that? After everything that has happened, I see things so differently now. Everyone has changed, and the line between joy and sorrow has blurred beyond recognition. The innocence I once had feels like a distant memory.”
