Madison looked serious. “You can never be certain. You two are experts at winning favor. You saw Dad’s attitude that day; other than them, did he look kindly at anyone else? So, we need to be wary of those two, so all our hard work doesn’t go to waste at the critical moment.”
Jackson’s voice was chilling. “Don’t worry, it’s a done deal. I won’t let them mess it up.”
Madison shrugged. “I’ll assume I’m just overthinking things.”
Just then, a commotion erupted at the entrance. Someone announced, “Merrick is here.”
Eric then walked in, assisting the patriarch, followed by several staff members.
Madison glanced at the entrance. “Let’s go, Dad’s here.” She walked over first, and Jackson quickly followed after downing the red wine in his glass.

The surrounding guests spoke one after another. Merrick was in a rare good mood today, so he chatted with everyone for a bit longer than usual.
Not far away, Ivanov was slowly eating a plate of dessert. Audrey stood beside him. “Grandfather is here. Why aren’t you going over?”
Ivanov glanced toward Merrick. “Do you think I can even push my way through? I didn’t expect Grandfather to be so popular in Dracovia; this is rare in Murica.” He then put a piece of cake in his mouth.
Audrey smiled smugly. “Of course. Oh, right, I heard a thief stole your wallet last night.”
“How did you know that?” Ivanov asked irritably. “My mother, honestly, she tells everyone! It’s embarrassing.”
Audrey chuckled. “What’s the big deal? It’s your fault for going to places like that. They’re crowded, the environment is poor, and they’re unhygienic. They’re breeding grounds for thieves. Besides, with your image as a rich man, who else would they target? If you went to a restaurant, you wouldn’t encounter
