Chapter 754 Madison’s Fate
After Merrick recovered, he looked at Jackson and said in a calm voice, “Do you have anything more to say?”
Jackson wept bitterly. “Dad, this was all Madison’s doing! She seduced me! I know I’m unfaithful, but if she hadn’t given me hints, I never would have gotten involved with her!”
Merrick then looked at Madison. “What do you have to say?”
Madison shook her head, her expression numb. “Nothing.” What else could she say at this point? The man she loved had utterly betrayed her. She felt heartbreak and despair in the most absolute sense today.
Merrick nodded. “Very well. Since you have nothing more to say, I will speak now.”
“Madison, I fulfilled my responsibility when I adopted you. For decades, you enjoyed the life of the Philips family’s Miss, and I helped you establish your own family. I have done right by you. As for how you have repaid me and the Philips family, I believe you know in your heart. Because of your jealousy and resentment, I lost my daughter, and I lost my wife. I should tear you limb from limb, but in recognition of the father–daughter bond we shared for all those years, I will not make things difficult for you. Therefore, leave. Leave the Philips family and go live your own life. From this day forward, you are no longer the Miss of the Philips family. Whether you return to the Nico family is your business, and it will have absolutely nothing to do with the Philips family.”
Madison looked at Merrick in shock. “Dad! I was wrong, Dad! Please don’t kick me out! I truly know I was wrong! I’ve lived in the Philips family for decades. If you make me leave, where can I go? This is my home!”
Audrey, in the crowd, was terrified and afraid to speak. It turned out that her mother was an adopted child of the Philips family, meaning she wasn’t a true cousin of the family either. Seeing her mother’s desperate state, she instinctively wanted to distance herself, but if her grandfather truly drove her mother out, what would she do?
Merrick looked at Madison and sighed. “Go back to the Nico family. You married Oliver; that is your home. Go back and live a good life with him.”
The moment Merrick finished speaking, a cold voice suddenly rang out from the crowd. “She won’t need to return to the Nico family. We don’t want a woman like this in our family, and I, Oliver, don’t want a wife like this. The Nico family cannot afford this humiliation.”
A slightly heavyset man walked out. He had a square face and regular features, indeed looking like a good-
natured man.
“Father,” Audrey called out, looking at the man.
Madison stared at the approaching man in shock. “You–why are you here?”
Oliver smiled sarcastically. “Surprised? If I hadn’t come, how would I have witnessed such a spectacular scene? If I hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have known what a cruel-hearted viper my wife truly is. And if I hadn’t come, how would I have discovered that my wife was involved with her own brother and cheated on me for so long? No wonder you never allowed me to question your affairs—they were indeed things your
