Cameron snapped back to attention, realizing Elsie was still standing next to him, and quickly said, “Elsie, you misunderstood! How could you be the pit? I meant I am the pit.”
Elsie glared at the man and walked straight out. Cameron watched her retreating back and muttered, “It definitely is a pit.”
On Saturday, Lilian was scheduled to visit the Philips family.
Sebastian had intended to go with her, but he was called away on urgent company business.
As the car passed a residential community, Lilian inadvertently glanced at the words above the gate and immediately called out, “Stop the car.”
Unno quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road. “Miss, is everything alright?”
Lilian stared intently at the community outside the window. “Wait for me in the car. I’ll be back shortly.” She pushed open the door and got out. If she remembered correctly, this community was the address mentioned in her mother’s letter.
She walked into the community, which was filled with two–story villas. The environment was quiet and peaceful, with no disturbing noise.
Following her memory, Lilian arrived at one of the villas. Perhaps because it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, the courtyard was overgrown with weeds and extremely desolate,
She retrieved a key from her spatial storage, her hands slightly trembling as she inserted it into the keyhole. She turned it twice, and the door opened.
Pushing the main door inward, Lilian walked inside nervously.
Because no one had entered for so long, there was a heavy smell of dust. Thick curtains blocked the light, making the whole space dim and gloomy.
Lilian walked to the window and pulled the curtain open. The sunlight instantly illuminated the entire room. When she saw the scene before her, she gasped.
The walls of the entire hall were covered with photographs. Each picture documented the growth of a little girl: photos from infancy, photos of her learning to walk, photos of her crawling, lying down, walking, standing, laughing, crying, acting spoiled, and making funny faces.
Looking at the array of photographs, Lilian felt tears stream down her face.
These were clearly photos from her own childhood.
As she stepped closer, she realized that beneath every photograph was a single line of text.
“Lilian is finally born. Thank you, heavens, for bestowing this treasure upon me.”
