“Is that so?” Lillian sneered. “Do you really think I’m going to give you a chance at a future? You claim not to care about Mildew Corp or the centuries of legacy your family has built. Fine. I’ll let you watch with your own eyes as your stronghold is ground into dust.”
She produced a small glass vessel and handed it to Unno. “Drop this into the elevator, then send it down and seal the doors.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Unno took the container of shimmering blue liquid and hurried toward the elevator bay.
George’s eyes widened with visceral terror. “What is that? What are you doing?”
“A little something I developed just for you,” Lillian said, her smile turning predatory. “It only takes a drop. At high temperatures, it triggers a catastrophic chain reaction. I engineered it specifically to dismantle your research base. Originally, I didn’t intend to be so thorough- the fire I set was meant as a distraction, not total annihilation.
“But I’ve had a change of heart. You were right about one thing: you can’t be soft with your enemies. You have to pull them out by the roots so they can never grow back. I’m simply a fast learner, George.”
“You’re bluffing! You couldn’t have synthesized something like that in such a short time,” George stammered, his composure crumbling.
The greatest secrets of the Mildew family were buried deep beneath that base. It held the accumulated wealth and archives of a hundred years. If the structure collapsed, it would bury everything. He couldn’t let that happen; if that vault was destroyed, the Mildew family was truly finished.
Lillian’s laugh was mocking. “Then keep your eyes open. Let’s see if my invention meets your expectations.”
Unno returned to her side. “It’s done, Miss. The elevator has reached the lower levels.”
Lillian looked at George, her expression chillingly calm. “Let’s start the countdown. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.”
The moment the last word left her lips, a massive, muffled roar shook the earth. Behind
of them, half of the derelict building buckled and collapsed inward in a violent spray concrete and steel. A titanic plume of dust billowed into the air as the ground beneath them. shuddered violently.
Sebastian immediately pulled Lillian into his arms, shielding her from the shockwave and debris. Everyone else scrambled to turn away or find cover.

When the dust finally began to settle, George stared at the leaning, ruined skeleton of the building. Lillian… you actually did it.”
Lillian glanced back at the wreckage with a cold sharp smile. “Are you satisfied with the results? The collapsed section just happens to be the primary structural support for the base entrance. I’d say my calculations were quite precise. I really have you to thank–without those chemicals in your warehouse, I never would have had the chance to run this experiment. I’m glad it was a success on the first ry.”
“Lillian!” George roared, his face contorted with desperation. “You better pray I never find a way back to the top. If I do, I will make you suffer in ways you can’t even imagine!”
“I’ll be waiting,” she replied flatly.
Sebastian stepped forward, his obsidian eyes flashing with a lethal light. “I don’t think you’ll have that chance. First, you have to explain to the world why you were holding these scientists captive. Then, you will answer for the abduction of Leonard, our leading medical expert, and the kidnapping and attempted murder of my fiancée. We will be pursuing this through every legal channel in Radovia. If we don’t receive a satisfactory resolution, I promise you–this is only the beginning.”
