Elsie’s gaze turned cold as she looked at Emily. "Emily, I’ve tolerated you this long not because I’m in the wrong, but because I didn't think you were worth the effort. If I’m not mistaken, you’re the one behind those forum posts. You know exactly why you’re doing this. You’re resentful because I’ve always outperformed you, so you decided to sabotage my reputation by spreading rumors that I stole someone’s boyfriend. Did you think your little shadow operation would stay secret forever? Let me introduce you to a concept called an IP address. Don’t assume everyone else is as stupid as you are."
Emily flinched for a split second, but she quickly regained her composure and sneered. "What if I did post them? I’m sick of your 'holier-than-thou' attitude. In reality, you’re a hypocrite doing dirty work behind everyone’s backs. I couldn't stand seeing our classmates being deceived, so I exposed your true colors so everyone could see who you really are."
"Emily, I’d choose your next words very carefully. Don't think for a second that there are no consequences for your mouth," Elsie said, her tone cutting. "Under Article 246 of the Criminal Law, anyone who publicly insults another person or fabricates facts to defame them by violence or other methods shall, if the circumstances are serious, be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, public surveillance, or deprivation of political rights. Use your head before you speak, or you’ll be living with a lot of regret."
Standing beside her, Lilian and Isabelle were impressed. They hadn't expected the usually cheerful and easygoing Elsie to be so formidable when pushed.
Emily’s face paled, but she doubled down. "I’m telling the truth, so your threats don't scare me. Even if you sue me, I don't care. You stole a man. You’re a homewrecker. If you were brave enough to do it, you should be brave enough to hear people talk about it."
At the mention of the name, Emily’s expression shifted into one of visible unease. "I—I don't know what you're talking about."
Lilian caught the reaction and laughed coldly. "You know exactly what I’m talking about. You were shouting Cameron’s name earlier, so you clearly know Elsie’s boyfriend. You even sound like you have a personal stake in this. I happen to know Cameron’s exes quite well, and only one of them is a Roberts. It’s quite the coincidence that you two look so much alike. One coincidence is a fluke; two is a pattern. If I had to guess, you found out Elsie is with Cameron and decided to play the hero for your cousin."
