Lilian had no clue what was unfolding just beyond the door. At that moment, her entire focus was locked in a silent battle of wills with Sunny.

“You’re such a liar,” Sunny grumbled, his voice thick with frustration. “You promised you’d take me out to play. But you didn’t! You lied to me!”

Lilian lay back on the bed, her fingers scrolling lazily over her phone screen as she answered without looking up. “I told you to stay home, but you insisted on tagging along to Sandy River. Since we arrived, I haven’t had a single moment to rest. How exactly am I supposed to take you out now?”

Sunny let out a disgruntled huff, sprawling out beside her with a pout. “Then don’t shove me off with that dumb mosquito. I want to stay with you.”

Lilian gave a slow nod. “Fine. But don’t wander off. If you get lost, I’m flying back without you—and I’m not coming to find you.”

“Hmph! Like I’d ever get lost,” Sunny shot back with a proud smirk. Ignoring her after that, he turned away and scampered off to play by himself.

Just then, Lilian’s phone buzzed. An unknown number flashed on the screen. She answered cautiously. “Hello? Who’s this?”

“Lilian, it’s me.”

Sebastian’s deep, magnetic voice flowed through the line, sending a sudden flutter through her chest. For a brief moment, it felt as though he was whispering right into her ear again, just like the day he held her close.

“Why are you so quiet?” Sebastian asked, his rich tone laced with curiosity.

“Nothing… it’s just so late. Why aren’t you resting yet?” she replied softly, her voice clear but tender.

Hearing her voice, Sebastian’s dark eyes softened, even though she couldn’t see him. “Work isn’t finished yet. I missed you… I just wanted to hear your voice. What about you? Did you miss me?”

A warm blush crept over Lilian’s cheeks instantly. She stammered awkwardly, “I—I who said I missed you?”

Sebastian chuckled lowly, clearly amused by her bashfulness.

“Sebastian! Stop laughing or I’m hanging up!” she snapped, flustered but unable to hide her smile.

Suppressing his amusement, he asked, “Lilian, when are you coming back?”

She hesitated, raising an eyebrow. “Sebastian, how do you know I’m not in Solara? Are you tracking me?”

“Lilian, you mean more to me than my own life. I need to know where you are. I don’t want what happened last time to ever happen again. I won’t interfere with your life, but at least let me know where you are.”

His words sent a comforting warmth flooding through her veins. A complicated swirl of emotions filled her chest—hope, longing, fear, and something deeper. She realized she could no longer say no to him. No matter the pain she’d endured before, she had fallen for Sebastian completely, caught in the web he’d woven around her heart.

Lilian had planned to return home today, but after Sunny’s persistent begging, she decided to spend the day showing him around the city. After all, visits here were rare, and she wanted to make the most of it.
