Chapter 175 I Was About To Burn The World Down Searching For You
The hum of heavy diesel engines echoed through the wet forest air as the smaller convoy of thirty soldiers rolled up towards the newly formed courtyard. They spilled out of the transport trucks, their faces a mix of sheer exhaustion and wide-eyed disbelief as they stared up at the two-story fortress that had appeared out of nowhere.
Briggs immediately snapped out of his daze, his military instincts kicking in. “Listen up! Squad leaders get the men inside the lower-level containers and establish a defensive perimeter. We need this base secure before the larger convoy from Dillon arrives with the families.”
Joanna turned back to the commander, her mind already racing through the logistical nightmare of housing everyone. “Briggs, Jolie will help you put together a list of everything your men need for short- term housing. Get it all down so we are ready when the rest of your people get here.” She gestured toward the upper row of the perimeter. “I have several metal staircases and ladders in my dimension that we can attach so people can safely access the second floor, and then we can-”
“Joanna!”
A frantic, breathless voice cut through the chaos of the unloading camp.
Before she could even fully turn around, a tall, imposing figure burst through the crowd. It was Julian. The normally aloof, fiercely entitled CEO looked completely unraveled, his usual mask of cold composure entirely shattered.
Without a word of warning, Julian collided with her. He wrapped his strong, large arms tightly around her waist, lifting her completely off her feet and pulling her flush against his chest in a desperate, crushing embrace.
Julian buried his face into the crook of her neck, his chest heaving as he held her so tightly it was almost difficult to breathe. The sheer, overwhelming relief radiating off him was palpable; the knowledge that she had escaped the tsunami by mere minutes had completely stripped away his usual cold, calculated exterior.
Joanna stood completely frozen in his arms, her mind struggling to process the sudden shift. This was Julian -the detached, fiercely entitled billionaire who rarely let anyone see behind his mask. Yet here he was, shaking slightly, his heart hammering violently against her ribs. Shocked by the raw depth of his frantic worry, she didn’t push him away. Instead, she let her hands rest against his back, allowing him to hold her as the chaos of the military camp swirled around them.
Julian tightened his grip, lifting her just a fraction higher as if assuring himself she was truly made of flesh and bone, completely safe from the black floodwaters below.
He leaned in closer, his breath warm against her ear as his voice dropped to a fierce, raw whisper. “I was about to burn the world down searching for you.”
Joanna’s heart stuttered violently at his words. The raw intensity of his confession was overwhelming, making him entirely too much to handle this close.
“I’m… I’m okay,” she whispered, stuttering slightly. “I am right here, Julian.”
Julian didn’t immediately let go, keeping his strong arms locked around her as if the rest of the world didn’t
exist.

e-stood a few feet away, leaning casually against a shipping container with his arms crossed. The quiet soldier looked between the fiercely intense billionaire and the flustered Joanna, a slow smirk playing on his lips.
“Careful there, CEO,” Jake joked dryly. “You grip her any tighter and you’re going to pop her pocket dimension like a balloon. We still need those stairs she promised.”
Julian stiffened, his cold composure snapping back into place. He slowly lowered Joanna to the ground but kept one large hand firmly on her waist. He shot an icy glare at Jake, but the soldier just grinned.

Luckily, Briggs and Will had already walked off to give them some privacy, sparing Joanna from any teasing. Taking a small step back to create some distance, she cleared her throat. “We will catch up in a bit, she said, her voice steadier now.
