Chapter 229 The Five Star Apocalypse Treatment

Finished

A few hours later, the team finally exited Joanna’s storage space, materializing back onto the asphalt alongside the pristine Beast Though the mystical waters of the hot spring had healed the worst of Joanna’s physical wounds, a lingering protective worry hung thick over the crew. They absolutely refused to let her use her teleportation or spatial jumping abilities for the rest of the day, wanting her body to fully recover.

“Relax, Boss! We are giving you the five star apocalypse treatment!” Kailee said with a reassuring grin, handing over a fresh bottle of spring water. “Just drink your water and let tis handle the cleanup this time.”

With Jake behind the wheel, the team drove through the rest of the afternoon toward Tech Valley. They wouldn’t even let Joanna lift a finger to clear the debris-strewn highway. Instead, Jake eagerly used his metal manipulation ability, effortlessly lifting abandoned cars and throwing rusted barricades out of the path without the vehicle ever having to slow down.

For the remaining hours of daylight, the rest of the crew dominated the countryside. Every time a stray cluster of level-ones or level-twos tried to approach from the frozen fields, Briggs, Julian, Jolie, and Kailee handled them instantly, testing out their new elemental combinations.

By the time the late afternoon light began to fade, they had carved a remarkably safe perimeter through the region. Joanna leaned back against her seat, watching her fiercely loyal team coordinate their attacks. She knew that once they finally reached Tech Valley and got Major Levi out of there, this entire route would become a lot less dangerous for everyone.

As the sun started setting, casting long, deep shadows across the frozen landscape, the temperature began to plummet. Joanna looked out at the fading winter light and made a decision. She ordered Jake to pull over inside a dark highway tunnel ahead, providing them with structural cover for the night.

They had made it halfway to Tech Valley. With the rest/she was getting, Joanna knew she would be fully recovered and could easily teleport the crew the rest of the way there in the morning.

Before making their final move for the evening, Rachel stepped out of the vehicle and performed a thorough mental sweep of the tunnel and the surrounding cliffs. After a moment, she gave a reassuring nod, confirming they were completely alone and that no psychic tripwires or hidden scouts were lurking

in the dark.

Satisfied with the security check, Joanna activated her pocket dimension. With a fluid gesture, she grabbed everyone and the Beast, pulling them all safely into her storage space to sit out the freezing December night in total warmth and security.

The next morning came quickly inside the timeless expanse of the domain. Refreshed, fully healed, and bursting with renewed energy, Joanna stood ready. Her shoulder was completely smooth, without even a scar to show for the level-three attack.

Looking over her crew, she made a tactical decision. “Everyone stay inside the space and rest for now,” Joanna announced. “I’m at one hundred percent. It will be faster and safer if I make the transit alone.”

Leaving her team and the Beast secure in her pocket dimension, Joanna materialized by herself back into the dark highway tunnel. The freezing December air bit at her instantly, but she didn’t lose a second. Focusing her mind on the geographic coordinates ahead, she began her journey.

She blinked a mile out of the tunnel, her boots hitting the icy asphalt of the empty highway.

Pop. Pop. Pop.

She moved across the winter landscape in a rapid series of long-range spatial jumps, tearing through miles of terrain in mere seconds. The snowy fields, abandoned checkpoints, and clusters of frozen zombies blurred past her as she bypassed hours of treacherous road-clearing in a handful of heartbeats.

With one final, massive jump, space warped violently around her.

Pop.

Joanna dropped light on her feet, standing on a snow-dusted street lined with empty, split-level homes and overgrown lawns. She had reached the quiet, frozen suburbs fight outside Tech Valley. Just over the tree line, the frosted peaks of the city’s high-tech corporate skyscrapers loomed in the distance.

The suburban streets were eerily still. Now that she had reached the perimeter safely, it was time to get the. intel.

Joanna waved her hand, expanding her pocket dimension to release the crew and the Beast onto the quiet, frost-bitten suburban street.

Julian stepped out, shivering slightly as the bitter December air hit him. He quickly scanned the familiar layout of the neighborhood, his eyes lighting up. “Joanna, my house is just two blocks that way.”
